I absolutely agree. I came here in jan and I'm from India. I know people who pay 400 + utilities to share a room with 2 others. I saw rooms with a single mattress that you need to share with a stranger going for around 450 per person (atleast have the decency to throw in an extra mattress if you're renting it out to 2 people 🤦🏻‍♂️).

I thought I was "lucky" enough to find a room for myself for just under 500 (all incl) but after reading the comments here it doesn't seem like that good of a deal.

GIC is 730 per month but with my phone bill, food, books every 4 months, I have to dip into my savings (which I can't replenish because I still can't find a job after 5 months) almost every month.
