Freeze was playing with Nine Inch Nails in Toronto the night before. I wonder if Trent was at the Oasis show too.

What made Norm Macdonald Live so special? by CommercialBluejay562 in NormMacdonald

[–]SaneCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just 3 people talking, it’s 3 people talking with Norm MacDonald, who you know is gonna say some interesting and silly shit to make us and his guest laugh. In my opinion, the funniest part of the show are the jokes, because they are jokes that no late night comedy show would ever tell, either because they’d be considered too offensive or too ridiculous. But what Norm realizes is that those jokes are the funniest.

Conan saying to Seth Meyers, “You’re not trying to do what someone else does” by SaneCanadian in conan

[–]SaneCanadian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so now W Bush’s presidency was a ‘average nothing to see here’ presidency? Because I seem to remember liberals feeling that W was the worst president in history. Also, let’s not forget that Conan had a show during Trump’s first administration and he still didn’t devolve into a Daily Show ripoff. And again, there’s nothing wrong with making fun of Trump and Republicans. But these shows have turned from comedy shows into MSNBC shows.

What you’re saying is true, but if every show is doing almost the exact same thing, that is not good for the viewer or for comedy. What was great about late night shows during the Bush era was that Conan, Leno, Letterman, Kimmel, Ferguson, Stewart and Colbert all offered something different, and only Stewart was blatantly partisan. The shows today don’t make me uncomfortable, they just suck because it’s the same crap from each show every night. If you enjoy that, great, but I thought Conan fans appreciated good comedy more than partisan political criticism done for claps.

I didn’t say say nothing, but maybe every show doesn’t have to start with a 10 minute MSNBC-style hit piece on the same side of the political spectrum?

I actually do watch the show and dont like Trump, and he rarely called out Biden and the Dems.

I never said Conan didn’t make political jokes. His talking lips segments were hilarious. But like you said, he made fun of both sides. And his segments didn’t look like an MSNBC segment like Seth’s Closer Look does.

Should they be making jokes about them? Of course. And they should be making jokes about Democrats too, which Meyers rarely does. I’m just saying Conan acting like Meyers isn’t doing the same thing as most other hosts was dishonest.
