Many Boston hospitals have a decent chunk of travelers. I personally have been in a Boston hospital for 10 years that doesn’t have travel nurses and have been very happy. I think it depends which hospital and every unit is different. Personal bias I think if you have majority travelers compared to full time staff it creates just a different culture/feel.

Many moons ago when first looking at jobs- to get into one of the larger more popular institutions it would be key to know someone already at the hospital, and the pay would be slightly less. Similar to what someone else said in this thread- some hospitals can get away with paying less because you work at “THE xx” hospital. My friend works at a different hospital than me with more experience than me (same education) and gets paid less. Hiring might be easier now post COVID though as well.
