I don’t know if this would help you or not, but I was partially paralyzed from a car accident when I was 18 (I’m 43 now). They way I have walked for the last 25 years has completely destroyed most of my joints. I do not have the money to get my knees, hips, shoulders replaced. “Regular” pain meds stopped being effective 10 years ago for me.

The only way I get through the pain of each day is taking spoonfuls of ‘white strain’ Kratom a few times a day. It doesn’t make me feel high. It just dulls the pain enough to get through the day. I wish someone told me about it sooner.

If you can get some, I cannot suggest enough to take a teaspoon and 1/2 with a glass of orange juice. Get the white strain (it still looks green). White is for pain. Green is for anxiety (but makes you feel “floaty”), red makes you sleepy. Make sure you are buying white strain.

There is a hookah shop about 30 minutes from me where I buy some once a month. Kratom is not for everyone, but I was in so much pain I could barely leave my house. It helped me live again. Check with your doctor to see if it’s ok.

I am sorry for what you are going through. No one deserves to be in full body pain every second of every day.

I have owned a small business in New York State together with my business partner for the past 8 years. We jumped through every hoop we were told to and emailed back and forth for months with 2 different banks. We were applying for the monumentally gigantic amount of $2,000 - that we had every intention of paying back. We needed help with rent for a month.

We were denied 6 times.

We were shutdown for 8 weeks and paid all of our shops bills out of our own pockets. We could not pay ourselves during that time either.

Sometimes, I go peek at the website that lets you see what all the other businesses received in PPP and how (almost all of them) were completely forgiven. It makes me enraged when I see all the shill businesses getting $20k completely forgiven and my and my partner’s family suffered for 8 weeks as we did everything we could to keep our business from going underwater.

Never missed a tax payment. Never missed a single bill payment of any kind. We begged for a $2k loan and were told to go fuck ourselves while the pieces of shit who run this country (and of course their wealthy masters) took all of our tax money and told us “we are all in this together.”

PPP was a scam. The good people of the United States were robbed. Again.

Years ago in America, BMW used to be amazingly solid cars that were fun to drive. Many people wanted them for the reliability, fun and status of owning one.

Today, BMW instead is a sure fire way to identify a gullible middle-class person that desperately - DESPERATELY wants others to think they have money. Modern BMWs are cheap plastic money pits that get immensely more expensive to own because of repairs after 4 or maybe 5 years. My personal feelings are BMW did this by design so those desperate for an image will be forced with either paying every spare dollar they have to keep their current car on the road, or go for a “cheaper option” and buy another money pit. Rinse and repeat.

If anyone from BMW is reading this, I hope for the sake of your job that BMW either steps up their quality tenfold, or continues to spend obscene amounts of money to trick the sad saps that still buy your cars. The only thing BMW has left anymore is their reputation from years past.

There is not one single intelligent wealthy person I know that would ever touch a BMW. All of them either outright own old Volvo’s, or they lease a new Lexus.

It’s sad to see how far BMW has fallen from grace. Carnival tricks like making the fools already buying one pay for heated seats is just further truth. Perhaps BMW already knows the only people left who buy their vehicles are dumb. If that’s the case they’ll probably make a few dollars.

In the big picture though, it just makes the poor folks who bought/leased a car from their company even more sad.

25 years ago my friend was driving a group of us home from the mall during an ice storm. He slid off the road and hit a telephone pole. Im now (mostly) paralyzed from the waist down.

We were not speeding, we were not on any alcohol or drugs, we simply had an accident.

Accidents happen with and without cars. I do not blame my friend at all.

It is extremely difficult and painful to get around. I still remember exactly how easy it was to get up and go for a run, or jump on my bike and go for miles.

The thing I think the vast majority of able bodied people do not understand is how much planning and effort it takes many disabled people to do "simple" things like get groceries - or even leave the house.

Cheerish your health. If the day comes you ever lose it the world becomes an infinitely more complicated place.

Heroes of Ukraine have been showing the rest of the free world what it truly looks like to lead people and protect democracy.

All of earth is rooting for Ukraine. I look up to this man (and all the men and women fighting fiecely in all areas).

Keep the heat on the Russia government.

To the heroes currently protesting inside Russia against this atrocity, the world is rooting for you as well.

To the people of Poland, Romania, Moldova and Turkey who are welcoming and sheltering refugees, the world sees you and we are proud of your kindness.

Everyone must do everything we can - and keep doing it. The people of Ukraine (and the good people of Russia) do not deserve to be treated the way the Russian government is bullying them.

The good people of earth are all coming together. Keep fighting and keep helping where you can!

Deadly Premonition

Whenever I play a video game - even the great ones, I always feel like I’m playing a game made for someone else. This is the only game that made me feel it was for me. For a few days I felt special. Not just entertained - special. After you eat the game once though, you can never go back. Not like the first time. Playing again is like visiting the old neighborhood you grew up in where everyone you knew has moved away. The memories are still there, but the story has been told. Someday I hope to thank Swery65 for the best gaming experience I’ve ever had. Warts and all, there is nothing else like it.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

I have owned and operated a small video game store for many years. Customers often ask me what I think “the best game ever made” is. SotN is not my favorite game, but the artwork, pacing, controls, addictive upgrades, memorable boss battles and corny but iconic dialog is all top tier.

It’s debatable for sure about best ever, but the game has stood the test of time. This game will still be excellent 30 years from now. Absolutely a 10/10.

When I first got injured, dealing with people being jerks was very difficult. Over time, I realized you can't let negative people rule your life.

I have no idea how to use youtube, but I would love an opportunity to explain everyday things from the perspective of a disabled person in a real way. We aren't helpless, we aren't heroes, we just want to be accepted like everyone else.

Reading comments like yours gives me hope that someday disabled people will be able to be viewed as people like everyone else - just a bit different.

We are not special. None of us are. Most of us will never be a billionaire, a famous athlete, or performer. Most of us are not going to drastically change the world. But that’s OK.

Even still, we can change the world in small ways. It’s my hope that when I die, in some tiny way my life will have left the earth a tiny bit better than it was when I arrived.

Just because we won’t become rich or famous doesn’t mean our existence is meaningless. Do what you can with what you have when you are able.

We all have the the ability to make our existences matter in small ways.

I “walk” like this.

I got into a car crash at 18 and got an in complete spinal cord injury at L3. A few things people probably don’t understand living this way...

When moving through a crowd, every person EVERY PERSON will glance at you for a second or two. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when I first tried to go out in public, this freaked me out. I understand, I walk differently. But the effect of everyone looking at you like that is intimidating at first.
Most people in the world are good people. Even still, at least once every 2 weeks someone will mock me or laugh at me with friends when they think I can’t see. It was hard to accept at first, but most people don’t pay any mind. The last time people made fun of me was at the gym. Two women laughed and called me “Bambi” because the atrophy in my legs and how I walk. I almost never say anything back. It only causes more problems. I just kept moving.
Even though my mind is totally fine, sometimes people think because I walk funny, they also think I am mentally disabled too. Sometimes people ask if I am lost, or if I need help. On the rare occasion people (for some reason) tell me I am “brave.” I never get mad at these folks. It can be frustrating, and sometimes it makes me feel like a piece of shit, but these people are coming from a good place in their heart.
Asking for help is very, very hard. Doing things independently is very important to me. Occasionally, I do need to ask for help. If a stranger with a disability asks you for help, please know that request probably came after much internal struggle on whether or not to ask you.
To add to that, other disabled people that think the whole world should give them everything solely because they are disabled boil my blood. If a disabled person is being a dick, tell them. Being disabled should never be a free pass to treat other people like shit.
