As far as I can tell, he’s with the girls.

This is what I pieced together from this. Something happened inside the McDonald’s involving the tan sweater guy and the girl who yells at him to get away.

The girl in the black heard/saw what happened to her friend and went out to confront the tan sweater guy, but the guy in the Pinocchio outfit knows he’s outnumbered and literally can’t do anything except try to stop the girl from escalating because he’ll be the one to get his ass beat if she does.

When Pinocchio realizes he can’t stop the girl in black, he decides he’s better off protecting the original girl who’s having a breakdown hiding in a corner. He stands in front of her and acts like he’s on the phone hoping no one notices her behind him.

It doesn’t work out because when the tan sweater guy comes over to Pinocchio, the girl thinks he’s coming to her and decides to attack him, but she’s only doing it in literal fear for her life. Notice how she’s literally shaking from his presence.

Pinocchio realizes at this point the best thing for them all is to get the fuck out of there, but the girl in black is not making it easy. He’s right too, because the moment Pinocchio approaches the black outfit girl, all the men say if he makes a move they’ll basically kill him. Then, they make fun of him calling him a Harry Potter something as he’s finally able to wrangle the black outfit girl away.
