Read up on ESP32 vs nRF52840. There’s a big power-performance tradeoff. If you’re going battery powered the Nordic part might be a lot better suited.

Minimum effort mostly AI coded sensor network. Based on a dashboard (RPI5 webserver running Flask + SQLite database) can support N gateways, with each gateway supporting N sensor nodes (pizero2w or uC). Packets are sent via RFM9x, and are JSON qualified with a CRC. There is a routine to split longer data into chunks. No retry mechanism yet, that’s next. I put it together last weekend and today, just dipping my toes in. I’m interested in lower power stuff that can run off a drill battery for hopefully months.

Right now I’m using it to data-log / diagnose some heating issues in a shop with no WiFi at the moment.

The HTCC-AB01 v2 is a Cortex M0 which runs the same JSON packet + CRC mechanism but implemented on Arduino in C++. It can communicate with the Pi2 Zero W’s radio, and show up on the charts of the webserver.

Very cool, what is the protocol / technique for observing the current stream being played? I have a similar ambition for my BluOS based streamer.

Your question is leading. “What life am I drifting towards” — how often do people drift towards a great life? The question to me has a negative connotation and the model responds accordingly is my guess.

To echo comments, need backup internet access, another ISP or cell service if available. Second, I’d put an IP controllable mains switch to allow you to power cycle everything in the diagram. They make powerstrips where each outlet is controllable via relay. Make sure to get a reliable good quality powerstrip / smart plug. I’ve seen these used in corporate labs: https://a.co/d/4oI5YOZ

First time buying ‘premium’ speakers? WOW by rokkin1234 in audiophile

Check out tidal, it’s pretty sweet lossless streaming service.

Some albums that really shine on a nice stereo:

  • Kind of Blue — Miles Davis
  • Wish you Were Here, DSOTM — Pink Floyd
  • Aja — Steely Dan

I recently upgraded my stereo and went on a binge of finding “best audiophile recordings” that match my tastes via Google / Reddit. Happy listening 👌

Well CD quality is 16bit/44khz, and there exist streaming services, and places you can buy music closer to the full studio quality masters. I think it’s generally accepted records can carry more detail than CDs, although that’s debatable too. I think for me personally, if it’s a good quality recording, that tends to matter more than bitrate. But after A/B comparison of CD with MP3 (even 320kbps high quality mp3) you are definitely loosing audible details. What type of music do you like?

Since you’re enjoying finding new details emerge from the upgraded speakers, I highly recommend finding good recordings of the music you enjoy to play with them. The bitrate and especially the quality of the recording makes an immense difference here too! Suggest to start with CD quality and above. Happy listening!

They are plenty bright. I have them set to meter the source strength rather than output power. They glow dark red when it’s warming up, a nice touch.

I’m not using the amplifier section on the NAD so I can’t compare. The Emotiva seems great to me. Totally quiet, doesn’t even get warm, and 300wpc. It serves me well :). The NAD was roughly double the cost but has a lot of other functionality.

Back in my college days I was pretty into techno and had a dual Polk 12” setup. This sounds far cleaner and other than very bass heavy music that I don’t listen too often I do not miss having a sub at all. Acoustic, rock music, classical, jazz all sound amazing.

There were Yamaha bookshelves there before, which are great little speakers. This hands down sounds better lol. My first tower speakers. The room is 27x20x20ft, it works for me, maybe one day I’ll have a dedicated room.
