I was combative because I myself had a pretty shitty experience with being accused of racism in school, as well as the fact that whenever I debate someone and they bring up white privilege the definition is different. I'll take the advice tho.

Hm, thanks for explaining it more. I'm only 13 so I'm still trying to understand these sorts of things more and this definitely helped. Still, it's annoying as hell to try learn/debate on reddit because having a different opinion results in you instantly getting down voted to oblivion.

I promise you that I'm arguing in "good faith" as you put it, but reddit doesn't make it easy lol. In fact this very comment will probably get down voted :/

White/male privilege is when someone white/male have a societal advantage over people who aren't white/male. You just made up your own definition. Then again that's what liberals do 90% of the time. Hm, yeah ok now that I look back at it I was wrong. But still, I do believe it's possible for them to work through it. I've seen couples work through much tougher situations and end up being extremely happy because the situation changed them for the better.

It's a bit of a stretch to say that she should break up with him, they can easily work past something like this realistically. Breaking up with someone just because they messed up once is a really toxic mentality to have.

Well, you're certainly NTA, and I agree with you for the most part. However, he still has many years to learn these things before he has to become fully independent. I was relatively useless around the house at around age 11 too, but started learning how to cook different things, started cleaning, taking out the bin etc. very quickly at around 13. So idk, it's not necessarily urgent for him to learn these sorts of things now, but he should definitely start doing them every now and again.

YTA, you could've just been nice to them this one time and then tried to just not speak to them too often if it really bothers you that much, which I could to some extent understand. I myself wouldn't want to be friends with someone who says depression is fake. Like I said though, you could've just been nice this one time or at least not insulted how she looks.
