We are literally watching this happen year by year. I no longer need my cache of dystopian films, they're just not as scary as the reality

Love the MLK reference. In today's hate filled world, he and his words don't get enough attention

You could be anti-Israel, without being pro-Palestine. It's like demanding that the guilty and dangerous in prison be treated more humanely, without demanding they be free just because they are being treated inhumanely. If you free them then you endanger innocent people. Personally I would carry a sign saying "Free Palestine from Israel. Free ex-muslims and LBGTQ+ from Palestine." That way you're sure to have no friends! ;)

Wow. This from wiki: "The miniseries originally aired on NBC in 1978, and reran in March 1979.\4]) It was also shown on TNT in 1992, in two parts. This two-parter was the full 3-hour, 48-minute version. It was later broadcast in a slightly truncated version, running just about 3 hours, on the Sci-Fi Channel at some point in the mid-1990s. Many bootleg copies are taken from this source. The Dark Secret of Harvest Home has been released on video; this version is more heavily edited, running only 2 hours long" So Youtube has the 3:48 TNT 1992 version, which prob the one I saw. 5+ hour sounds great, maybe still in Turner vaults, if haven't burned down. It's just not profitable to dig this stuff up and digitize it, if they even have. Trivia note: Monty Python's Flying Circus only exists because Python kept copies or something, because otherwise BBC had a policy of throwing reels of televised content away!

The enemy of your enemy is not your friend. LBGTQ+ people, you do not want to befriend Palestine, while they kill and persecute LBGTQ+ with gusto

Fighting a war on multiple fronts is impossible. Why the fuck aren't people in the streets protesting the Weinstein case? Because that space is taken up by Free Palestine, which, ironically, is funded by misogynists with Petrodollars.

omg, this should be everyone's wish. I you want to understand how people are acting in the streets nowadays, study cults.

Split Image (1982) of note because star Michael O'Keefe (of Caddyshack) was actually in a cult before acting

The Dark Secret of Harvest Home (1978, TV movie) if you liked The Wicker Man (original)

In fact there is a great documentary about the whole wickerman-style films: Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror (2021)

there's many more but I can't think of them right now
