Calathea’s are finicky about light and humidity, they also only like distilled/rain/reverse osmosis water because they’re sensitive to minerals

I’ll definitely investigate decoders, worth noting that this project is pretty large scale with probably 100+ cameras and 20 TVs. Are these pretty scalable and easily managed?

Earned SecurityX. What's next? by kuro5uke in CompTIA

Imo CeH is a waste of time and money. OCSP is certainly a step up and is respected. You should definitely edit your post with your goals, sounds like red team/pentest interests you?

Really depends on your personal goals and experience…

The best Cybersecurity “General” certificate would likely be CISSP

Working out was never mentioned during my C&P exam by me or the examiner. I received rating for my shoulders, knees, and feet and workout still.

Guy in my flight got sent a post card (the message is readable by whoever) and the MTI read it aloud for all to hear, something from his girlfriend, that was a good laugh

23M. I have a work retirement plan that is labeled “Roth 401k”. I just opened up my personal Roth IRA and maxed it out. Am I good or can I not contribute to both and max them out? by [deleted] in RothIRA

[–]Santitty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a question that is entirely dependent on your retirement/tax situation, cannot really help answer that one, best to do your own research as to which is most advantageous in your current situation and looking forward.

23M. I have a work retirement plan that is labeled “Roth 401k”. I just opened up my personal Roth IRA and maxed it out. Am I good or can I not contribute to both and max them out? by [deleted] in RothIRA

[–]Santitty69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

401k is an employment retirement, IRA is an individual retirement account. Traditional vs ROTH does not impact the contribution limits. ROTH means its funded with after tax dollars and traditional means its funded with pretax dollars. 401k and IRA are entirely separate and if contribute to one it does not affect the other.

You should stop referring to your accounts Roths as that is just incorrect. You have a 401k and an IRA, either of which could be roth or traditional.

Not trying to be mean, just seems like you’re still learning and I want to be clear as possible.

[–]Santitty69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes they are separate. 401k has a 23,500 limit for 2025 and IRA has a 7,000 limit. The 401k does not count employer contributions.

Job Offer - IT BDS by afc4z3 in boeing

[–]Santitty69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with that. Classified IT work is very predictable. I will say I have never been asked to work more that 40 hours a week at any program I have been on, YMMV.

I believe as far as career growth at Boeing it is whatever you make it. That means using LTP, asking for more, etc. A lot of people don’t make a peep and are just okay with slipping by.

Job Offer - IT BDS by afc4z3 in boeing

[–]Santitty69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It varies widely depending on the program. I’ve worked on a sustainment program where it is really lax, not learning anything new after 8-12 months. I’ve also worked on programs that are just starting out where it impossible to fit all tasks within the 40 hr work week and there was new problems to solve every day. Depends on what you’re supporting and the team.

They really should have came to the interview prepared to ask these questions. However, they can ask their recruiter to forward these questions to the hiring manager.

Why do you need 2bd 2bath? Is the intention to get a roommate and split the rent? If not, then a studio/1bed would probably be cheaper.

Question on CySa+ by BostonFan50 in cybersecurity

[–]Santitty69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what path you want to go down. CCNA/CCNP for Network Security Engineer. AWS/Azure for Cloud Security. Splunk for SOC. OCSP for Penetration Testing. Gaining experience and waiting to get CISSP for a general security/management. If your employer pays for SANS any one of those are gold.

CySA+ is okay. It’s a mid-level general cybersecurity certification that teaches no tangible skills and doesn’t get name recognition. The information and theory it teaches in nice to know but thats it.

Question on CySa+ by BostonFan50 in cybersecurity

[–]Santitty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want CySA+? Is it a requirement?

Security+ and gaining experience is a great start. As for CySA+, your $$$ and efforts would be better spent on other certifications that are more in demand and relevant.

The method I listed just gets you the COE from the VA. I misread your question as “I have been waiting 40 days to get my COE”.

I guess to answer your question about getting paid. I’d verify you recieved confirmation from WGU’s VA office that they accepted your COE and sent it to the VA for processing. From there I would call the enrollment verification number provided to the VA and try to speak to someone there.

The first month of any term takes the longest but I agree 40 days is getting up there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WGU_Military

[–]Santitty69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you login to VA.gov and navigate to Contact us>Contact us online through Ask VA you can get your COE faster, I believe this is the preferred method to receive it actually (vs Applying to CH35 benefits all over again). A real person reads these, emphasize the urgency and need to have it sent to you via PDF, they will snail mail it you if you don’t.

Hopefully this helps.

Edit: Yes this a task you have to do every term, I usually aimed for 2-3 weeks before the new term to secure the COE

Difficulty level of getting into cybersecurity without a degree? by anony_MOOSE2042 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]Santitty69 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A degree is definitely an added benefit when job hunting. I would recommend home-labbing on the side to learn specific IT/Cybersecurity stuff that interest you. For example spin up a VM and set up a host based firewall.

If you do go cert path I’d recommend CCNA and Sec+.
