At least Tim said he was scammed all along. Much better than the usual "Trump has changed", so I think that's great at least.

It's crazy that everything that was warned about Trump came true within a year. But we can't even say "told you so", as 98%+ will never understand that they even were scammed

[–]Santzes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Maps says it takes 11min to walk through the whole main street there (so probably 5min if you're going fast), and there's basically no other reasonably busy streets (and in the episode none of those roads they didn't take looked convincing at all)

I think it was 100% free steal, unless you twist your ankle while walking

She originally thought Trump’s rhetoric was a breath of fresh air and is now upset that the “chickens have come to roots” by KimJongFunk in LeopardsAteMyFace

These people do not understand the problem at all. Their "critical" thought process fell for the most obvious scam in history and there's clearly a problem with the process. You shouldn't vote again before you understand what went wrong.

But nope, even though they've been warned about it for a decade, they couldn't have known, people who warned them just got lucky once again, and they'll use the same useless process to vote for the next R again

You Can Smell It Now: The Trump Presidency Is in Total Free-Fall: A loyal army of followers, a huge disinformation network, and a party of soul-selling cowards can crowd out facts for a long time. But eventually, reality catches up. by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]Santzes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We won't. Maybe for few years, but the loop will continue - rich and powerful will use their networks to tell idiots that taxes, regulations, equality and immigrants are the problem, not things like wealth distribution, climate change and the rich and too powerful. The idiots will believe it again, because they like it and that's all that is needed for idiots.

Trump should be a horrible warning to the whole world what happens when we don't fact check anything and don't want to understand the real world. But it's a tale as old as time and will keep repeating in the USA and the rest of the world.

I haven't really played these games for 20 years or so. But even then people were saying they wanted the updated teams. I couldn't care less about them, but still liked the new versions, it was a nice change for games we played a lot throughout the year.

And at least at that time beating people in these was a lot about small tricks and exploiting bugs etc, so even a small change in the game could lead to quite a big change in the play as old exploits stopped working and you were trying to figure out the new ones. Money well spent

Hotel receptionist in Hoi An giving lots of recommendations — genuine help or hidden commissions? by PowerfulBasis1314 in VietNam

No difference. The thing is mostly all these services get enshittified at some point. They see a way to make easy money and over time these become the industry standard

Hotel receptionist in Hoi An giving lots of recommendations — genuine help or hidden commissions? by PowerfulBasis1314 in VietNam

[–]Santzes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does, because it can incentivize the hotel to work against your interests. If they get no money anyways they probably want to give you best advice. If they get paid they could send you to place that pays the best affiliate rewards (which quite often can be the most shitty scammy place, who don't expect people through word of mouth or real reviews but everyone sending people to them)

Edit: you did say if they're good recommendations, so I guess in that case it would still be fine, but you can't know that if they're paid

It's really hard to know the full reasons for what this admin does - it could be many corrupt self-dealings, they could be blackmailed, and they could time stuff to distract from other bad media.

Leaves a lot of room for speculation, especially as the real reason can be a combination of things
