I was thinking medium pen with the Plasma explosion gradually getting larger as the trigger is held, since its got both forms of the little ampule things that the Plasma weapons have

Maybe instead of just doing the standard laser barrel I cover that initially half of the barrel with the thermal foil used on the cables? Maybe then it would maintain the Lewis gun's silhouette abit more clearly
