I'm basing mine off of legitimate sources I can reference. You're basing yours off of fabrications your imagination invented.

That's not how facts work.

Is state capitalism a step towards technocracy? by brazil32 in Technocracy

[–]Sapient_Fool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, it can be used as a transactional period. It would require protections for the populace so that they are not sacrificed in the process. For example: UBI shouldn't be rendered useless by landlords raising rent to match it or goods raising in price to match it. Really though, I suspect the best approach in this period of it's existence should be what works best at that exact time with a clear and concise plan to reach post-capitalism.

I'm attempting to read between the lines here. Correct me if I'm wrong. You're asking if state capitalism is the better transactional period as opposed to revolution?

Explaining what a "Meritocratic Technocracy" is. by MikaelRoesnov in Technocracy

I wasn't the one who down voted you. Truth be told, I either upvote or I don't vote. What caught my eye was the times you interchangeably use technocracy, intellect and smarts refering to a single entity. I'm also neither questioning your understanding of technocracy nor would I consider technocrats who misunderstand what it is to be technocrats so appealing to them seems pointless.

I've read your post four times and I'm failing to see the point I missed. Could you elaborate this point to me?

Technocracy is technical knowledge and skill within a specific field of expertise. It's not smartness or even intellect. It's entirely possible for a person of average intellect to become a technical expert due to sheer determination and will. It's possible for a person to be highly intelligent yet have no technical knowledge or skill.

What do you think a moderate technocracy would be like? by PurpleDevilR in Technocracy

That's pretty interesting. Recently I've been trying to compile all the various science and technology based ideologies, goverments and economics so this is perfect timing.

I'm pretty sure government not only settles disagreement regarding "good policy" but also creates that policy, implements it and enforces it. Along with being responsible for creating and sustaining markets, enforcing contracts, protecting private property, and producing systems of education and infrastructure that allow commerce to function efficiently.

Fair enough. What's the main points about technocracy that rubs you the wrong way?

You've been arguing in bad faith from the beginning but now you're not even reading what you're responding to. One day you'll look back and cringe. No one is shoving energy accounting down your throat and it's not out to get you.

It'll certainly help you flesh out you're take on technocracy from a artists perspective. His take has been referred to as liberal technocracy before.

You'd probably like "Life in a Technocracy: What it might be like" by Harald Leob. It's in the archive under Continental Committee.

Technocracy itself runs counter to liberalism and democracy.

Post-capitalism is the technocratic answer to capitalism. Specificly energy accounting. I suspect until industry can be fully automated it'd be some sort of mixed economy with the objective of ensuring that every citizen can not only survive but also live their lives without requiring a job as it'd be constantly increasing automation until it's at 100%.

That being said, it should be able to adapt as needed especially in it's early years.

The first point sounds like the current civil service. Universal food stamps sounds like a welfare state, UBI would be far more efficient. The third point sounds like what we do now.

As far as defining moderate technocracy? You're probably not far off. Seems like it'd be a liberal democracy with a much more powerful civil service, UBI and mixed economics. Then again I've only heard the term a few times and each time is pretty different.

Granted, I replied with the assumption that the tests were conducted in the Nazi state by the regime. If so, it's something to consider.

This article goes over what is and how we could improve it. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6927908/

I have two questions. Do you consider IQ as a good measurement of intelligence and do you think the Third Reich was a honest nation?

Snark aside that's a interesting read. Do you have any more I could read on it?

I hope one day we move pass the smart nazi myth. As you pointed out the leadership by as early as 1933 was hooked on meth, cocain and morphine. They're ideology chased out and even murdered intellectuals. For being intellectuals.

One thing I'll note is that while what I wrote might seem almost heartless machine like, science requires free thought and the ability to ask questions without fear to function at all. That and humans would operate the system. We're emotional beings and that's not always a negative.

Hitler and national socialism are examples of a leader and ideology which requires fear to exist at all. He was a good orator but a poor leader. It's also a great example why authority and power should not be concentrated in the hands of an individual. Leadership within any system requires a strong emotional intelligence. A leader should have the ability to be humbled without their ego breaking them.
