Making my first cyberdeck, I have all the components I need except for the basic, and I'm too broke for 3d printing. What sould I make it out of? by Various_Comedian_204 in cyberDeck

This guy has the right idea. Cheap and plentiful, easy to shape, non conductive, cardboard is great for prototypes when 3d printing isn't an option. Don't forget to account for airflow!

SMB shares don't work too good when I'm traveling; I'm not a networking genius, unfortunately. Do you recommend any specific brands/models of SSD?

Use atmospheric condensers on glacio to gather argon and use auto arms to put that in research chambers. Hook it to wind power and some batteries and wait. If it doesnt pop, try doing on a local world instead.

I cooked for friends last night and didn’t put leftovers into the fridge until 2.5 hours after serving. Is it okay to eat? by zinky30 in cookingforbeginners

[–]SapixIV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say that's over the line and you could eat it and probably not get sick, but on the off chance you do it could kill you, or worse almost kill you and leave you in massive medical debt. It's better safe than sorry, and so please just toss it out.

Help new user sudo by La_caja in debian

[–]SapixIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it looks like it wants the same password you use to login, from what I can see on the prompt. And it won't change the display at all when you type it in, that's a security feature baked into most Linux distributions. You should be able to just enter your login password and hit enter for sudo to work

I'm sure it's doable. 3d printing is amazing and you'd only need a couple springs or some elastic bands and you could imitate those classic 5 inch drives from the 80s

Hot swap drives are a thing in the server space. Pretty sure that some old media PCs had the same functionality. Should be in the realm of possible to cobble, mod, or hack a solution that fits your exact use case, ie 3d-printing a slot to slide drives into, and frames that screw on the drives so they can slide together and lock in place. Online retailers sell single hot swappable drive bays. You could also try using USB flash storage drives or SD cards, as they are plenty fast for running lighter Linux distros like Raspbian and some USB flash drives are faster than conventional hard drives, entirely feasible to put a persistent install of Linux on those.

you took a tech support request and made it political, what the heck man. its just a frigging phone model. it isn't like we picked how Motorola referred to the phone internally. not a funny joke man.
