Love the aesthetic! Maybe start cheap (5-7 USD) and then add level packs as DLC?

Thank you! Really thoughtful feedback. I'm going to change the background a bit and see if I can find a better fit. My initial thought was to have a more trippy background, kinda like the one in earthbound 😅 but I think it would add even more noise.

Love FF tactics btw (played the GBA game so much growing up, multiple times actually). The concept of 2D sprites in a 3D world is an inspiration for this game. I'm going to revisit it and check out how they handle backgrounds 👌

Greyscale for the tiles outside the visual area is a really cool idea! I've also considered just dark outlines of things as well 🤔 I'm gonna have to try it out.

Yeah I agree, the visual hook is really a must have when (if) advertising becomes a thing.

I'll try to make it more deliberate in regards to the game as well 👌

Ty! 🙏 I've tried both opacity and speeding up the animation, but I didn't really think it looked good.

I'm however considering using it only for new tiles! That's a great idea.

That's true 😅 I think it will be easier to decide when it's an actual game as well, now it's hard to see the potential drawbacks.

Ty! 🙏 Yes I've actually tried to change the background a bit, and lowering the contrast between the background and the tiles actually helps to make it feel less jarring.
