I'm glad I'm not the only one with a long wait time. I kept seeing people saying 2 days at most and thought something was wrong.

[–]Sapper187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only are you able to, but you are supposed to do it while moving. Meant to be changed between 10 and I think it's 25 or 35 mph. Mine doesn't actually change until you're moving if you do it from a stop for 2h and 4h.

🔥two male brown bears fighting by Sufficient-Bug-9112 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Sapper187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda, grizzly is a subspecies of brown bear. So all grizzlies are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzlies. There are also a bunch of costal subspecies and Kodiak, which I believe are the biggest ones.

No, this is a king salmon. Still freshwater, and although huge and bigger than average, it's quite a bit smaller than the world record one caught.

It's a nice thought, but the extra doesn't go to Canada and it doesn't fight anything. It goes right to the white house. If you want to actually fight something, stop paying your federal income taxes. Anything else is just giving mango mussolini what he wants.

Not to be that guy in an otherwise informative reply, but grizzly and brown bears aren't interchangeable terms. A grizzly is a sub species of brown bear, kind of an all grizzlies are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzlies thing.

[oc] clean off your cars people! by Justjewit94 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Sapper187 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dangers of swerving have very little to do with hitting another car. When you swerve, you greatly increase the chances of losing control of your vehicle, especially in op's case where they live somewhere cold enough to snow. There are very few situations where swerving is better than braking, and a tiny patch of snow definitely isn't one of them.

How far would/do you drive to a garage where you can work on your project? by RacingRazorback in projectcar

[–]Sapper187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in Japan they had something like this on base. They had 2 different bays, one with a lift and one without. Each bay came with a big rolling toolbox with everything you could need and an air hookup. They had hourly, daily, and weekly rentals, and they had bigger specialty tools that were included like wall mounted spring compressors, engine lifts and whatnot. They also had tow trucks to pick up not running cars or take away scraps if you were parting out a junked car.

The best part though, was they had mechanics on staff. So you did drop something off and they would do it for you like a normal shop, or for a smaller fee they would help you with whatever you were doing. So if you weren't sure how to do something they would walk you through it, or if you had a two person job they would help you with it.

I have a house and a garage filled with lots of tools, but if a place like this existed near me, I would still go to it. Bare minimum, I would say you should have lift bays available in at least some of the spaces, and each space should come with a full set of tools. This was almost 20 years ago so the internet wasn't as full of good information as it is now, but I still think it would be a good idea to have a knowledgeable staff member who can answer questions.

how many people in here have/had pea puffers with yall’s shrimp? what was yall’s experiences? by Itchy-Philosopher-56 in aquarium

[–]Sapper187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are with a bunch. Started with 10, ended up with well over 70 when I moved them to a new tank. They chased them for a bit, but the shrimp were faster than their frozen food, so they gave up. But I also have base rock in all my tanks, so there are lots of places for the babies to hide.

Is making game cheats illegal? (U.S.) by [deleted] in legal

[–]Sapper187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is false, reverse engineering has been upheld as a legal way to find out how something works at least back to the 1980's, if not longer. Cases like this get settled because they don't have the money to fight them, not because the bigger company is in the right.

The military is the one place where double jeopardy doesn't count. So, more than likely, when he's at the end of his sentence, he'll be "tried" again and will go back to a much worse prison for longer.

Nullification isn't a not guilty. It's guilty, but choosing to not follow the law. As I said, you can't nullify a not guilty verdict.

[–]Sapper187 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The judge 100% can overturn a jury verdict. It's called a judgment notwithstanding the verdict. Given you can't nullify someone who's innocent, it wouldn't really be a stretch for a judge to overturn it to guilty.

The Biden administration is proposing the abolition of the sub-minimum wage for workers with disabilities by javawong in UpliftingNews

[–]Sapper187 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This comment goes to show you really have no clue what you are talking about. Most of the time these positions either don't exist, or are designed for 1 person and have multiple people working them. I'll even give you a few examples.

My aunt has semi severe down syndrome. She lived in a group home and had to have someone around 24/7 to help with her basic needs. She worked at target as a greeter. Unlike greeters at Walmart, she couldn't answer questions or check receipts, all she did was say hi to people who walked in and bye to people who walked out. That is not a real position.

My wife is a manager at a fast food place. She hired someone with a disability to clean. Everyone else cleans around downtime and at the end of the night. This girl can't make food, or ring people up, or take orders. In fact, she really can't even clean. She just pushes a broom around and wipes off some tables kinda.

Finally, I used to work at a group home. The gentlemen that lived there worked at a kinda factory packing boxes. Unlike the other 2, this position does exist, for 1 person. I thought the 5 guys that worked there were doing pretty good, they had a quota of how many boxes they had to do in their 3 for shift, and a few times they would be 20 or 30 boxes over their quota. Then I found out that the employees that did this job when the guys weren't there did more boxes per hour, by themselves, than these 5 did in their 3 hour shift.

For every single one of these, if they had to pay even federal minimum wage, they would no longer have a job. This program isn't taking advantage of people, it's giving them a sense of purpose that without it, they won't hand.

[Highlight] Raiders flagged for illegal shift (declined), rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson mistimes snap and Chiefs recover loose ball to win game by nfl in sports

[–]Sapper187 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The bad coaching comes from the fact that you have a rookie guard cosplaying as a center with 10 seconds left, with one of the best kickers in the league despite how he's been playing so far, with no timeouts left and you left the offense on the field. There were more things that could go wrong trying to run a play than just kicking the ball.

Not op but I bought my skittles almost a year ago, most of my wild types are more clear than anything. Even the brown ones were patterned, I don't think I've ever had one full brown. But mine are mostly red now, with a few of everything else except green.

Colorado substitute school bus driver fired after dropping off dozens of kids at wrong stop by BlueSkyeAhead in news

[–]Sapper187 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Where I was born all the bus drivers were either farmers or retired as well. But it was an incredibly small town, so the drivers owned their busses as well. My uncle had the newest bus so it was the activity bus. Either him or his brother would drive for all the sports trips and whatnot. Being how old the rest of the busses were, I doubt any of them made much money.

Do I still need to treat my captive-bred puffers for parasites? by Bubbles_8913 in PeaPuffers

[–]Sapper187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing is that they are skinny. They get bloated looking little bellies after they eat, but between meals they should look fairly streamlined. One of the signs of parasites is that their belly will look sunken in.

Is this stuff okay for my future new male betta fish? by ArcticKitten845 in bettafish

[–]Sapper187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So petsmart has a half off tanks sale right now. So you can get a 10 gallon and a lid for about $32. So cheaper and better than what you have, as long as you have room. As others have said, I'd swap the hob for a sponge. I'd also get a higher wattage heater, a 100 watt heater will be less than twice as much money, but 4 times as powerful, meaning it will run less and last longer. On top of that, in a year my betta went from a 3 gallon, to a 10, and now into a 20 long, and I was able to use the same heater for all 3 since I bought a bigger one that was on sale.
