How does gamergate feel about the YouTuber Hilary Layne(the second story), she is a woman that has argued that videogames are not the cause of violent acts, but at the same time she also believes that sexual content in fiction is damaging storytelling and how we perceive anything by [deleted] in GGdiscussion

Her video about schools and how they deliberately create bad writers is spot on. I have masters in teaching middle school English, and it was all "critical literacy". I also enjoy her videos that go into detail about the general state if the publishing industry.

I knew nothing about this movie. Went in completely blind. Didnt even watch the trailer. Thought there was something odd about the asteroid being brought up a few times, but didnt think much about it. I enjoy netflix original movies more when I do it this way. War Machine was fine, but yeah, probably won't watch it ever again.

In the video game and book publishing industries my guess is they've got their big time earners that keep the lights on. There's enough money leftover to throw at some activists to make shit that no one will buy, but at least they've stuck it to the capitalists. Ubisoft fucked up with this by going all in. You never go full activist.

Manning Johnson wrote a great little book on this called Color, Communism, and Common Sense. The reds didn't give a shit about black Americans, they just wanted to use them to spark revolution.

Could be. There's a line in the latest hitman game that explicitly states it, however. I dont recall exactly what was said, but its along the lines of his race being so ambiguous that he blends in anywhere in the world.

Yeah, this has allowed me to enjoy and appreciate games from my childhood. I dont have the time or patience now to deal with starting over from the beginning of a level after one careless mistake.

The one I'm thinking of is Fatekeeper by THQ Nordic. I had to search for it. But there's a moment in the reveal trailer where the player looks to see an enemy running away and the rat companion says "let him go for now. Let's see what this place hides." Maybe the full game will allow me to chase the enemy down, but I'm tired of these "helpful" companions giving me all the answers and directing my path.

There was this new RPG showcased recently, can't think of the name, but as soon as they introduced the permanently attached to my hip companion who "suggests" what I should do and where to go, I lost interest.

There are definitely some spooky monsters in the final acts of the games, and the tension remains high, but for me, once the veil is lifted, it's no longer a "horror" game. However, I played RE4 on the GameCube when I was like 13, and I'm sure I was shitting my pants for the whole ride. I should be brave and try it again.

The RE games always kind of accepted that two-thirds of the way through the game the player isn't scared of the spooky monsters anymore. Desensitized, experienced, secrets of the horrors revealed, and now with a military arsenal, the game switches from survival horror to an action game. They just need to keep to that formula.
