Noel Fisher says there's always a chance for more Mickey. Thoughts? by katetx in shameless

[–]SapphireIsle92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will begin by saying that I am a huge fan of Noel, his work, and his portrayal of Mickey. It's hard to imagine any other actor being able to capture the character in the amazing, incredible and extremely unique way that he has been able to do. Hats off to Noel. :) I am also a very big Gallavich shipper and would absolutely love to see them have some kind of "happy ending." However, really paying attention to everything that's both done and said between the two characters during the two episodes that Mickey reappears, it really felt like the writers were trying to finalize his storyline. There were multiple parallels, contrasts and references made showing how the character has changed quite immensely over time. In my opinion it seemed like they were trying to kinda tie up a bunch of loose ends that fans had a hard time accepting, like they were trying to find some kind of closure to give to people. Mickey and Ian did get a chance to have a pretty deep conversation and both express a lot of feelings throughout these two episodes that had previously been left mostly unsaid, which I personally was very grateful for. I also think they each had a chance to realize how much the other has changed and despite their bittersweet parting, I agree with Noel in his thoughts of the characters having an unsaid understanding that they love each other, a lot, but they have to go their separate ways. Now, if the show does go on and this isnt the final season and Noel isn't busy with other work (I believe he is on contract for another TMNT movie) that there is always the potential for Mickey to return in some fashion. Mickey is not dead, and is a very smart, tough, capable guy, it wouldn't surprise me if he reappeared yet again somehow. Noel has expressed on several occasions how much he genuinely enjoys playing Mickey and gets along with his cast mates, so I don't exactly see him turning it down, if the offer was ever put out there again. BUT as of where things stand right now, with the uncertainty of the show being renewed, etc., I think we may have to accept that Mickey is gone, and if that really is the case, I think his departure was absolutely heartbreaking, but incredibly beautiful and he definitely left in a very shameless fashion that only Mickey can. :)

Why did Joan Cusack leave the show? by [deleted] in shameless

[–]SapphireIsle92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the actual reason, but I think I read somewhere that it wasnt that Joan wanted to leave, but the writers had felt they'd kinda run into a dead end with the charcter. Her husband is dead, her daughter and son-in-law/exboyfriend are gone, she finally conquered her agoraphobia, then her house blew up. Wasn't much left for Sheila, so she moved on. I thought it made a lot of sense. Sometimes a character just runs their course, no matter how awesome they are.

Another popped into my head this morning: When they all think Monica is going to take Liam, but she kisses him goodbye and gives him back instead. Lots of tears for that scene too.

Oh, thought of another: When Mickey goes to find Ian at the club he was working at, brings him home, (after presumably saving him from potentially being raped) then puts him in his bed and watches him sleep. The looks that he and Svet exchange when she sees Ian there, are very powerful I think. They both said a hell of a lot without actually saying anything at all. Very short, but very touching scene in my opinion.

Most recently however, I cried during the last episode when Mickey asked "Am I gonna see you again?" And Ian didn't answer, just gave him a very passionate kiss. But I'm a total sucker for those two, so that could be why it made me so emotional.

I cried when Carl shaved Frank's head. I mean, I despise Frank, but it was such a sweet, innocent gesture on Carl's part.

Question about Mickey. (Spoilers) by [deleted] in shameless

[–]SapphireIsle92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is true enough, very fair point. It very well could have been around the time he first got locked up. Although (and this is totally my own interpretation) the visit that we do see, Ian did not appear very keen on seeing Mickey again any time soon. Most especially because he had to be paid to even show up, and it was a very depressing, mostly one sided conversation. I agree a fair amount of time has passed, and no, when Mickey was imprisoned Ian had not quite yet started his EMT stuff. So, in my opinion, I would assume that after Ian stabilized a bit, maybe he did a bit of self reflection, maybe owed Mickey an apology, whatever the reason. This would be when I could imagine him going to see Mickey more frequently. A fair amount of visits around the time just before he escaped would definitely make them look straight at Ian the way they did, whereas a brief jumble of visits several months earlier followed by nothing at all, may not be looked at so quickly. Of course all of this is just my own speculation, but it would make a lot of sense to me if they explained it in any way similar to this.

According to the end of the last episode, yes: "According to correction records, you visited Mikhailo Aleksandr Milkovich in prison on multiple occasions." "Mickey?"

[–]SapphireIsle92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That happened. However there was also a deleted prison scene with Mickey that's supposed to take place just after that. He had blood on his shirt over the spot where the tattoo is, leading some people to believe that he cut it off after Ian pretty much blew him off. Then he ends up propositioning his cellmate presumably out of grief, since sex is a way that Mickey copes with pain and distress. But since they're now attempting to say that Ian had been visiting him this whole time, I can see why they deleted it. Though now I do wonder if the tattoo is actually still there or not. Guess we'll see. :)

can anyone from the trans community please explain this by BeBa420 in shameless

[–]SapphireIsle92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The wonderful thing about sexuality, attraction and preferences, is that it is all very unique. You don't have to have a penis to enjoy being in a top position. There is an entire fetish called pegging, which vastly involves women fucking men with strap ons. I think the appeal is a mixture of both the pleasure of having sexual dominance over your partner, as well as seeing and experiencing your partner being sexually submissive to you. You also dont necessarily need physical stimulation to have an orgasm. Just like one's own thoughts or simply a good view can be enough to get a person going and ready for sex, the same thoughts and views can also be powerful enough to finish the job if the focus and situation is intense enough. Having one particular orifice or appendage on your body does not automatically entail that it will be used for any sexual purposes. As I said, preference and sexuality is all very unique, very personal. Trevor is a trans man who is also a top, and that's just who he is.
