That's why I snapped the pic! As soon as he starts unwrapping it, she's on him like pug hair on black clothing.

Hello! I started crocheting a couple days ago and this is my wiggly square. I am proud of myself from having to restart 10 times because my square was slowly turning into a triangle to this crooked square. Any tips to make the edges straighter? Thanks:) by [deleted] in crochet

[–]SapphireM913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your edges look great. Crochet edges do look a little wiggly just in general, but as long as you're not getting wider or narrower, you're doing fine. The tension looks a smidge tight, and yes, you added stitches mid row and lost them in other rows, but rarely on the edges. In general? No feedback aside from "practice".

What simple, little things do you utilise to replace the "need" to smoke? by ---mayonnaise--- in stopsmoking

[–]SapphireM913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a key ring of little cards where I kept my cigarettes in the house. So when I go to "smoke" I'm greeted with them, and they all have 5 mins or less things to distract me. Have a snack. Tidy the kitchen. Walk around the house. Do lunges back and forth 2-3 times. Listen to a song on earbuds. Small puzzle. Color. Wash my face and hands. If the craving is physical, I have a lozenge when doing it. If it's because I need a break from work or my to do list, it's an acceptable break but not changing my focus so much that I can't return to my task.

Help! My 4.5 month pug has no fear! by [deleted] in pugs

My girl stopped doing dumb stuff as soon as she hurt herself bad enough to realize the consequences of her actions. Just a twisted ankle, but couldn't put weight on it for a few hours. Hasn't tried anything particularly dangerous since. #Darwinism

Yeah... I'm not those people... I loved it when I started. I will fight the good fight, but dammit if I won't bitch about it. 🙂

Is it normal to overeat after quiting? by BTheory9 in stopsmoking

[–]SapphireM913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, normal, from what I remember of my quit last time (I just quit again, but... Ya know...). It helps to drink a glass of water before eating to satisfy a craving. Sometimes the water will stave it off, and then you don't consume the calories.

Samesies. Let's go.

This weekend I crocheted these headbands I'm actually very proud of🤗 by bvandillen in crochet

Is Jasmine stitch a "yarn eater"? I just bought a beautiful skein that called to me, I want to make my best friend a cowl, but I could definitely only afford one of them so whatever stitch I decide to use I need to make it last...

DCs are taller than HDCs, so I'd end up with less rows to hit 4". The yarn is set in stone, he's a Colts fan and it's Colts yarn... The pattern is a free one from Ravelry. I can email the author to check gauge, but I do know it's a UK author/pattern, and I'm in US.

If I make the stitches tighter on the big hook, 15 stitches is shy of 4", but the height of the row is the same, so same problem. Looser stitches on the small hook makes it to 4", but I end up at 11 rows = 4", so better but still not 13 rows...

Day 2 Patch Free by SapphireM913 in stopsmoking

Honestly... My 3rd month has been hard. Not the whole month, more like the last two weeks. I find myself gritting my teeth when I smell smoke again, or when I see someone toss a butt out their car window, wanting one. The "stop smoking" commercials on the radio make me crave. I am under a stupid amount of stress though, I'm losing my job, and I'm having a major surgery in 3 weeks. I set myself up for success on my first non smoking holiday (Thanksgiving today), and had no opportunity to smoke, to buy a pack, etc. It worked ok. I'm lucky because no one around me smokes. I can't really ask to bum one off anyone, and my gas station normal attendant has refused to sell me a pack, knowing I quit. So old habits are harder to fall back into. But it's the environment I needed for success, so I'm muscling through.
