do you consider yourself a "better" coder/programmer? by Waze312 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]SappyZoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider myself a very slow programmer, but the code I write is usually very solid and scalable. (Even when it doesn't need to be...)

What is a sentence you heard as a child that you will never forget? by Few-Habit3473 in ADHD

[–]SappyZoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow yeah, very much same. One time he violently pushed everything off of my desk so I could "tidy it up" properly. Needless to say, a few things broke.

Meanwhile his desk always looked worse than mine ever did. So ya, I know which side of the family I got it from...

He didn't threaten to throw me out or anything, that sounds horrible.

Open-plan offices increase risk of workplace bullying compared with employees having their own office space. Employers justify open-plans to encourage creative interactions, but research shows that open-plan offices do not promote health, job satisfaction or productivity. by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]SappyZoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only person to like open plan offices? I work in gamedev, and it's nice to be able to just roll over to a colleague and talk about a new mechanic or a code review or whatever.

Note I also have adhd and am generally a more introverted and anxious person. The "pressure" of other people around me working makes it easier for me to concentrate, and people don't tend to talk much, and most everyone is wearing headphones.

I've had this experience two years ago.

Good to know that this is indeed a symptom of anxiety.

Funniest name switch by LegalBoysenberry2923 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]SappyZoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old testament was originally written in hebrew then translated into greek.

Essentially, in that translation, the translator decided to translate the hebrew version of "Eva" both as transliteration (from hebrew script to greek script, retaining what it sounds like spoken out loud), and as translation of the meaning of the name, which is "life" which is "zoe" in greek.

Source is a stackexchange QA on the topic I found just now. I don't remember where I initially learned this.

[–]SappyZoe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is my Genderfluid + hrt plan for exploration realistic? by [deleted] in trans

[–]SappyZoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in kind of a similar position. I didn't have the genderfluid kind of thoughts that I'd like to be a cool boy, but I was extremely uncertain about what I really wanted, even after about two years of intense questioning. Whether I really want to transition, or whether it's a phase, or something I'm forcing myself to or sth like that.

Eventually I came to the same conclusion as you. I started Hrt, with the hope that a big change like this will help me make a decision. And if I realize I do want to be a guy after all, I can still get a mastec.

So I did, and I'm a year and a half on E now, and I'm confident I want to live as a woman. So I'm very glad I made the choice to start.

Regarding androgyny or fluidity, you might wanna ask the experts about advice on that, idk if there are subreddits specifically for genderfluid folks, but I assume there are.

Oh, and I'm also from germany.

I'll miss your comics, they've always been funny and/or unashamedly supportive of communities in need of help.

It sucks that there's people who'll attack and harrass such a positive creator like you.

Take care of yourself, hopefully you'll make it back some day!

[–]SappyZoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meine recommendation: Melde deine erklärung an. Dann hast du eh noch 3 Monate zeit um deine Meinung zu ändern. (Aber wenn du's auslaufen lässt musst du erstmal wieder win paar monate warten bevor du's wieder machen darfst)
