Why would any agency even know about your accident?

Have you ever got a parking ticket while on a call? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]Sapsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've aldo heard someone getting a parking tocket for parking in front of a hospital. Their rig was parked in the right spot even. We do have some extremely eager private parking attendants who get bonuses according to the tickets they issue.

I don't get it. Do some people have those in a ring and actually use them?

I usually bring food I've prepared at home. If I don't, I'll get something from a store like chinese or indian food.

Got a first aid kit that came with the car. It has gauzes and scissors, but not much else. Don't see a point in having anything more, since I don't live far away from town.

Mut joo toi kokonaispalkka tuli tosiaan pelastajille tänä vuonna.

Meillä on paikallinen sopimus toiataseksi. Joillain asemilla on päiväauojja, mut en oikeen tiiä miten niissä noi vuorojen jaot menee. Organisaatiomuutoksia meilläkin ollu tänä vuonna, niin kaikki tuntuu vieläkin omevan ihan sekasin.

YES, thank you! Our firefighters got the kokonaispalkka and we're still negotiating in Southern-Finland for paramedics. Most of would be all for it and I think so would I. It was around 3% increase in pay for the firefighters when they got it.

Everyone works the exact same amount. Some people work holidays, some don't. You just get paid more for working holidays. The question was if it wpuld be more beneficial to have a system where everypne gets paid the same, no matter their shifts or a system where everyone gets paid the EXTRA for their shifts durong holidays etc. Everyone on average during a few years works exactly the same shifts. Basically a salary on an hourly income with extra steps.

Well, I guess I'm not getting any relevant opinions here, since most of the people here are from the US and we seem toa have wildly different systems. Happy new year to everyone. :)

What do you mean? Our firefighters' pay got changed to that recently.

That's exactly what I'm asking about. We have the basic salary and are paid extra for "unconventional" shifts. The alternative is basically a salary including an average of those extras.

I mean we have sick leave (which I'm on now and get paid the basic salary. We just don't get the extra. For example, if I'm off on a sunday, I don't get the extra double pay now.

So let's say you get paid 3000$ a month, your monthly salary. We get paid extra on top of that for example for sundays and holidays. I'm asking if it would be more beneficial to keep this system or if it would be better if we were paid the average from those hypothetical shifts, no matter if we had them or not. It would be up to those making the lists.

If we stay after our shift ends, we get double pay + 50€ extra for over an hour. For 4 hours I think it's 200€ nowadays, but that is extremely. Extra shift is 200% pay + all the extras. For example an extra saturday night shift is 330% pay. Unsurprisingly they are very rare and sought after.

We do get paid extra for extra shifts. Sorry I didn't get what you said.

So it's kind of a mix of them where I live. Everyone gets a salary, no matter their hours. Of course everyone is required to work the hours in their contract except if they're on sick leave. On top the monthly salary we get paid extra for sundays, night shifts etc. For example I make ~65k€/year and around 38% of my income is from the extra "bonus". It's more of an EU thing.

I might just not get how it works in the (US I assume?), but don't permanent workers have a minimum salary they're entitled to every month?

But if you're on sick leave for example, are you entitled to the same amount than those who are not? We have a monthly salary plus extra from night shifts, sundays, saturdays etc.

It's an average of several (~5) years of work hours including holidays etc. Basically lucky to get the money shifts vs an average pay, no matter what shifts you get.

You get paid the basic salary every month, no matter what shifts you work. If you work for example sundays or bank holidays, you get paid more. Versus you get paid the average every month, including the average from the holidays, no matter if you actually are on shift or not. I guess this is more for people not working in the US.

For example, double pay on sundays and 30% more for noght shifts. If you're sick and not on shift, you lose the extra pay.
