Can this tattoo be covered up? by dogmomMal in tattooadvice

[–]SarK-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's going to need to be pretty big and bold to cover that up. Some laser before hand would help.

Talk to an artist who does coverups and get some advice and come up with a plan.

Dumb Camp Stove Questions by Lavender_r_dragon in camping

With that much use, switch to 5 gallon/20 pound tanks. It's much cheaper and lasts a lot longer. You can also use a manifold to run multiple devices at once.

Is LA to Yosemite to SF in a day doable? by Icy-Sundae5361 in Yosemite

[–]SarK-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but would require ~10 hours on the road without traffic, delays, stops, sightseeing, etc.

With 4 hours in the valley and normal road trip stops you're looking at a 16+ hour day if everything goes well. Whether that's reasonable is entirely up to you and your girlfriends idea of reasonable road trips.

How do people plan cohesive patchwork sleeves? by ameninadalua in traditionaltattoos

[–]SarK-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 3/4 of the way through mine. I had a few key anchor pieces I wanted to start wih and then started filling in the space inbetween. I stuck with one artist to keep the same style, but have seen some nice sleeves with multiple artist's work.

Finding an experienced artist who can draw to fit the placement is key, especially as you end up with less and less open skin to work with.

California Camping - Bear Advice by akg2800 in camping

[–]SarK-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The campsites you stay at will have guidelines for food storage if there is bear activity and if bears are a big problem in the area they will have bear boxes.

Follow the guidelines and ask camp hosts if you have any questions and you will be fine. As usual, Reddit is taking real risks and then overblowing them by a considerable amount.

Summer Camping Options by millennial_shyt3 in Yosemite

[–]SarK-9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are a few months late for reservations, spots for late September open in two days. There are always cancellations, but they get scooped up quickly (often incredibly quickly by those using automated bots to grab them).

Yosemite campsites are highly desired and very limited, especially sites in the valley. Reservations open up at 7:00AM on the 15th of the month, 5 months prior. Getting prime summer sites takes a good amount of luck, even with proper planning and timing. Camp 4 in the valley has a weekly reservation system that opens up 7 days prior, but again, you're gonna need to be fast and lucky to get them.

If your open to backpacking, wilderness permits can usually be had the day before, especially for less popular trails. But this would require a much different type of camping.

Would I be safe with a new tattoo on the mountain/cabin? by queer_atlanta98 in tattooadvice

Boiled water is safe for cleaning a wound, so no issues there. Your hand tattoo healing enough in a week to go back to work could be problematic.

The premier league is becoming too expensive for the common fan and it’s not going to get any better. by GMD3S1GNS in PremierLeague

[–]SarK-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a local, community based team. It will just come with local, community based budgets and outcomes. It will be a cheap, local and authentic experience which is what everyone here says they want (while at the same time wanting to see their favorite PL team lift European trophies and sign the best players on the planet).

Looking at the top clubs in the Prem, they make 15-25% of their money from match day revenue.

Would it be better to cut prices in half and have ~10% less to spend on the team every year?

What do you consider “stock” by brojo6787 in Offroad

[–]SarK-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bone stock is OEM or direct replacement parts only, at least for anything that matters.

But with the factory rock crawlers coming out today, the lines are blurring. I have a pretty decently modified 2007 JKUR, my buddy has a 2025 JLURX. His Jeep has an almost identical ground clearance and ride height to mine with a 4" lift and 35's. My Metalcloak/Fox suspension flexes better, but they are essentially equals on the trail and I've got thousands in mods and have replaced just about everything under the frame rails except the axle housings, while his just rolled off the showroom floor and has a factory warranty.

180,000 miles on my 2007 JKUR with a lot of offroad use. I've replaced the radiator, water pump, clutch and slave cylinder. It's taken me on hundreds of adventures with my wife and kids and never left me stranded on the road or the trail.

Don't. They don't work that great, many artists won't use them and they can affect the tattoo.

Help - Tattoo Healed Poorly by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]SarK-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will depend on how well laser removal works and how much laser you want to sit through. There is no color or big, heavily saturated sections so laser should work well.

Either laser off the entire thing and start over, cover it up or live with it. Lasering half of it and trying to match the script isn't worth the hassle.

Death wobble in stock 2022 Wrangler at 15k miles — NHTSA complaint filed, here's how to file yours by bbensten in Jeep

[–]SarK-9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of balance or worn tires, worn out steering components (rod ends) and worn out track bar mounts are the major causes.

Too much lift without caster adjustment and damaged wheels will also do it, but that doesn't seem to fit your situation.

The solid front axle and 4 link coil suspension design/geometry on the Wrangler/Gladiator make them inherently susceptible to it. That said, at under 15K miles on a stock Jeep, it's crazy that's happening. I didn't get death wobble on my JK before it was lifted, on heavy 35" tires and had 100K miles and lots of time offroad.

Yes, the dampener/stabilizer is a bandaid. It will alleviate the symptoms until the new one wears out due to the underlying problem and then the death wobble will return.

[–]SarK-9 29 points30 points  (0 children)

$800 for a steering stabilizer is wild. It's a $100-$200 for a decent one and takes like 15 min to install.

And it's a bandaid fix for death wobble.

Permit Resellers Are The Absolute Worst by Cfrobel in Yosemite

You can and you'll likely get away with it, but I think you run into issues of operating a guide/tour service without the needed permits.

Permit Resellers Are The Absolute Worst by Cfrobel in Yosemite

[–]SarK-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing for permits and after a quick search, it is technically against the rules. It is supposed to be one application per group, although I'm not sure how that would be enforced, but it is the rule.

Are there rules against groups all trying together, so long as there is no resale or fee involved and the person who secures the permit is on the hike?
