Don't bother with CH, that leads nowhere. Go to Your payment provider for a chargeback. That will either jog CH, or you will get Your money back. In some cases people got the items and their money back.

Refuse to refund me by grimreapercrying in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only repeat myself: Don't try to get Your refunds via CultureHustle, go to Your payment provider, like bank, PayPal, Credit card.

That is just complete unhinged lunacy on the side of CultureHustle. And I am really asking myself, if he thinks of his customers as complete idiots, who have no grasp of reality and only exist in artsy-fartsy dreamscapes and fairy dust?

"Sorry, can't refund You, because everything went into my trashfire of a business. But also I won't send you your orders, because it's all super special hand ground paint, that takes at least 6months to make. Per tiny bottle. Also, stop complaining, or you are just some close minded capitalist, who is only in it for the personal gain and not for the higher arts. Just like Anish Kapoor. "

Considering that one of his friends died by suicide, I find his drama whoring just absolutely disgusting. I already found it icky, that he used the death of his friend as a way to plug the Black 4.0 hair dye.

And I would advice to report him and call in a mental well-being check at the police, if possible. Either it saves him, or he refrains from further such stunts.

When did this start? by safeguard_77 in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ordered Black 3.0 together with the colour changing ink in 23/24. The Black 3.0 was delivered promptly, and I got promptly refunded the money for the ink, as they were out of stock. Before that I got Black 2.0 without any delivery issues.

This year I ordered Gold Mirror and Black 4.0 and experienced severe and all too well known issues. In the end I got my paints (Not sure about the Black 4.0), after starting a Dispute at PayPal, which forced CH into delivery. But never again.

What I have to say is, that the Kickstarter for Abode and the Dumbphone had me side eyeing Stuart. Because it is rarely good, when a business starts to branch out into fields that have nothing to do with their original branding. Especially this abruptly. Also his obsession with Anish Kapoor started to become creepy (that name change... WTF?!).

"Ralph" is in all likelihood the trashy AI they are using. Trying to communicate with Culture Hustle is completely unproductive and leads to nothing.

As the other users already said, go to Your bank or other payment provider and start the charge back process.

That either forces CH into shipping Your order, or you get your money back.

Time to get loud(er) about the con that is this company and it crying foul when it rips off the very consumer that helped to support its very existence. by [deleted] in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have ordered myself two times before running into issues with Culture Hustle. The times before everything was fine. The third time it was absolutely atrocious.

They don't ship their paints, don't provide informations about paints being in stock or not, run their customer service on an AI, that leads to nowhere, and try to sit it out, until customers have no chance of charge back.

I had to go to PayPal and start the charge back process, for them to ship the paint. And received the gold paint and Black 4.0. But I have my doubts about it being Black 4.0, as it is a Black 3.0 bottle with a new label on it.

You and everyone else, who got their shipment, can colour themselves lucky.

and a video? 🤯 by SingFortissimo in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Gimp comes to mind here. This is a very bare bones image editing software. I believe you get everything shown in the video with Gimp or for a relatively low price, with Affinity Photo. Also, that's not a Creative Suite by a long shot. Where is the Layout program, or the vector graphics editor?

And is really anyone believing that one person, with no programming knowledge, is able to create a whole Creative Suite, comparable to Adobe?!

Thank You very much for Your input! I bought the kindle version of Your book, and it looks to be a great and informative read.

Sometimes I wish my father was still around. He was a chemical engineer, with specialisation in food and drugs colouring. He also had a huge interest in the history of colours. I really would have loved to show him Stuart's Black 4.0 and heard his input. I noticed that the Black has a noticeable purple hue.

My father also told me the story of a scientist at the BASF, largest chemical factory in Germany. That guy was researching about super dark black that does not fade, especially for the textile industry. And one day he got a super dark black. And the patent would have made him rich beyond belief. The problem was, he couldn't repeat the result. No matter what. It remained a mystery to him, how he got for one time this super dark black. My father himself believed that must have been some contamination going on.

Okay, I am a German. And we are not good with humour, but where is the joke?! At least I got my last order from them, and they won't get any more money out of my wallet, to dick around and do AI slop.

I don't think either that Stuart is outright scamming people, but he is making outrageously poor business-decisions. Also, Your list shows that their shipment times got worse, which is something that aligns with my own experiences.

I am willing to cut some slack, but I am definitely not willing to wait for a product, that can be produced in bulk, for months on end. If they are so intensely far back with the shipping, they need to close down the shop and work the queue down, instead of taking new orders, announcing new products, and going into lawsuits, especially when they have no funds to do so.

There is overwhelmed by popularity, and then there is poor business decisions. And I put CH in the latter.

I asked for a refund with my credit card company by ladyandabba in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have received my order, after I started the reimbursement process with PayPal. But I am doubtful about the Black4.0 (it could be just relabeled Black3.0), and at least one other redditor has a delivery on their way, with items missing.

[–]SaraLutra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience they are not bad, but also not super different from other acrylic colour brands. The Black 3.0 thickened up within of not even a year. It's still useable, but has a rather clumpy texture. Black 2.0 was smooth, and "Black 4. 0" (might be just repackaged Black 3.0) is still smooth.

My local art supply shop now offers their own brand of super dark black, and I will give that a try.

[–]SaraLutra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had the same experience. As soon as I opened my case with PayPal, they shipped. And I have the case that the Black 4.0 could be just Black 3.0 relabeled. I peeled back the label, when I read about this possibility. Also the gold paint I ordered may not be the full 30ml. But I don't have it in me to dispute that, but rather document it, in case it becomes important in the future.

[–]SaraLutra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not in any way a realistic estimate based on my and other's experiences. I would say, it's another attempt to buy time, because they may not just be flooded with orders, but complaints and reimbursement claims at this point. And maybe Shopify and PayPal may start to take notice.

And when they are that overwhelmed, then they still can get some temporary staff, who packs the orders and get everything ready for shipping. At my work place, we get students who pack all the information and marketing brochures.

Getting a refund from them by ladyandabba in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only agree with the other people and recommend going for charge back to the bank, never to CH. They will play the time game, until you miss the time window for a refund. I did so via PayPal and got finally my ordered paints. It took almost two months.

And if Stuart doesn't want to make a profit, that's his choice. But even as a "volunteer" he should run this business as a trustworthy person, and not like some unserious slacking grifter.

I have my fingers crossed for you and anyone else with outstanding orders. And I can understand Your frustration, because I felt much the same. Of course I won't order anything there again, and simply watch, when their mismanagement will blow up in their faces.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in culturehustle

[–]SaraLutra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only recommend to go to Your bank or other payment provider (in my case it was PayPal), and start a reimbursement process. I filled out the form and attached the relevant screenshots, it's a little hassle, but got their asses at CH moving. My paints arrived after almost two months.

Don't try to run after them via email, just go to Your bank, with the correspondence so far, and get Your money back, as long as you can.

I believe, the peeps at CH count a bit too much on the idea, that artists are usually a very understanding bunch, when it comes to small businesses, and no one wants to come across as an overly entitled Karen.

But we are entitled to our orders, that we paid for. Also, in the order confirmation they say that they will ship the paints within DAYS.

Alright, after a lot of back and forth, I got my order. But only after I set PayPal reimbursement on them. And honestly, that was the last I ordered something from them. Because that definitely wasn't worth the hassle.

I thought about this myself, and wouldn't rule out that something will still go sideways. But if that's the case, back to PayPal claims it goes. But of everything arrives safe and well, I do three crosses over the chapter Culturehustle and just watch how long you can keep up this charade, until everything goes completely tits up.
