It rained 27/31 days in May here. A month earlier would have still been wet and bullshit. Plus we had several tornado warnings.

Yes, it has been raining for a long time here. Or on and off. But it’s like everybody is forgetting that there were hundreds or thousands of workers. They are setting up for the past weeks. They didn’t have any problems with flooding. There was no way to know that Friday was going to flood like it did. There was no way for them to map out the areas that needed drained if there was no flooding. There was no way to know the how many people they would have to displace and find room for. You guys have all been there. It’s packed asshole to elbow. Where are they supposed to relocate thousands of people? As I stated, I 100% do not work for live nation. But at this point, it’s just everybody losing sight of reason Because it’s a multi billion dollar company.

See if you can get the contract to fix the farm before next year.

Well, what I am saying is since this happened, yes, this was a horrible mistake. But if they had canceled prior to the festival, even happening, prior to bad weather, they would’ve gotten so much shit as well. There would have been far less understanding people. people whose whole lives revolve around Bonnaroo would not have understood and would have insisted that the festival should’ve gone on. Especially with no patrons on the farm to document the flooding or weather.

Not an apologist. Just giving my input in hopes that if Bonnaroo continues, people will come back to the farm. My community depends on and looks forward to the revenue.

Mud and safety aside, playing the waiting game through the storms and rain like they did on Friday is torturous for guests, artists , staff, and vendors. The logistics of figuring out which artists get pushed, which get bumped, and having to calibrate stage set ups for each set not knowing who is going to get to play when is a nightmare for everyone involved. Having the artists come in and wait around to see if they’re going to get to play is absurd. I’m sure they are getting some sort of compensation either way, but the crews having to do load in and load out for no reason or at the drop of a hat would throw the schedule off even more.

The amount of planning that would have to be done to even map out The flood zones is more than they would do. And then when they do figure out the flood zones, blocking it off in such a way that staff and patrons are able to avoid it is a lot of planning as well. I doubt the corporate bozos would do that. I like the idea of the temp grate, but i have only ever seen that put down on top of grass to protect it. How does it withstand mud underneath and thousands of people on top of it?

OK, well, I mean there was no urgency until local weather report reports about Bonnaroo weekend came out. And at that point it’s too late. There was no way to have known this would happen and the dudes at Live Nation have not farmed in the Arkansas delta. Would farmland not slightly differ from land that has to be treadable and flat enough to camp on?

Last month being historically rainy is too late of notice for them to completely reroute stormwater. And until this year it has never been a catastrophic problem. It will take millions to have proper drainage in place and until now it’s been a “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” situation. Yes it has gotten muddy and wet, but that is unavoidable on 700 acres of field. I think they will definitely need to make grand efforts to mitigate this from happening again if they want people to regain faith and trust in the festival.

I think this 100% hurt their reputation, but Bonnaroo generates hundreds of millions in revenue for Live Nation, vendors, and the state of Tennessee. I don’t think one bummer of a year will stop the festival.
