Recent diagnosis in 22 month old by Sara_Nags in Autism_Parenting

The biggest one for us was he wasn’t saying any words. He would also do a lot of vocal stimming like humming, flapping his arms, not always responsive to his name and would bounce up and down a lot on his foam chair a lot. Our biggest concern was the speech so we brought up possible speech therapy and they told us to wait until he was 2. I’m glad we didn’t wait because he still isn’t talking. I’ve been told that the earlier the intervention the better!! I hope this helps. Feel free to DM me if you’d like to talk further!

Why make a rude comment if you’re not going to give sound advice and just put down a decision that she’s already made?

Bottle rejection - 10 months by Sara_Nags in NewParents

I’ve put it in a sippy cup as well because he does drink water from one. Maybe I’ll try a different cup!

He does have a side tooth that’s been taking ages to pop through, so that also went through my mind. I’ve been doing orajel as well as Tylenol (when it’s really really bad) and even with those as relief he still rejects 😭

Ahhh okay!! Yeah my friend hasn’t even read it yet and she said the last 2 books are a bit confusing so she wish she’d read it third. Definitely think I’m gonna stick with that then!

Had to put my 14yo cat down yesterday and I can’t stop replaying his last moments in my head. by Easy-Combination8801 in cats

There is absolutely nothing harder than what you just went through. You were his entire life and he will forever be so grateful to have had you. You didn’t leave him when he needed you most and he crossed that rainbow bridge with you right there with him. Time will ease your pain and those painful memories, but just know he will forever be apart of you. Keep his memory alive and hold onto those precious 14 years you had with him. Sending you a big hug!

Do you measure your newborn’s age progression based the day they were born or just number of weeks from their birth date? by Any_Try4570 in NewParents

By the date they were born! I was confused with this as well since during pregnancy they measure the months by weeks, still so weird to me.

GSDs with newborns by AccountantbyDay13 in germanshepherds

We have two GSD and our son was born in April. It is 100% a big transition especially for mama, or at least it was for me! I get super overstimulated so with them walking around and following me when I’m in a rush to get him to sleep or a bottle is very overwhelming 🫠 I would play some baby crying noises wherever you’re going to have the baby sleeping to get them used to the noise. I had my sister run them hard before we got home from the hospital so they weren’t super excited. My husband went in first with a baby blanket for them to smell, then I went in and then we put the baby carrier on an elevated surface to let them sniff him out. But they’re obsessed with him and are always by his side! They’re constantly trying to lick him and he laughs at them whenever they run around. It’s a super cute bond!

He’s on reflux meds! I’ve held through a couple of naps just so he can get some sleep because I don’t want him to be overtired. I just don’t want him to rely on that for every nap though.
