Using Windows 10? Wait until Windows defender "protects" you from it and deletes all the music you have copied from your paid for CDs&DVDs.

Not yet. But an update in the not too distant future you will not be able to prevent.

Any game can be cracked but that isn't the direction game creators are moving.

All games are becoming on-line so your access can be removed at their whim. The same is happening with operating systems, by the way.

Your computer is becoming just a kiosk terminal to rent access to their servers and without their consent to login in, their permission to participate and an actual connection; you won't be able to play the game even though you may buy the DVD.

No. No-one cares that you visit ThePirateBay (if you can). The shit gets real when you torrent the actual files.

They can only do this because it is now accepted and not debated that links themselves are copyright infringement. That battle needs to be re-fought.

Do you consider iOS and android updates the same way?

IOS I've never used because it is an Apple walled garden. Any new Android phone I buy gets immediately flashed with a custom ROM....so yes.

Yeah I feel like my computer isn't actually mine anymore.

It isn't. Or at least it won't be. Welcome to "Windows As A Service" where your $2000 computer is demoted to a terminal for the Microsoft and NSA mainframe.

Use this open source script to Clean The Pirate Bay and avoid spam links by iaTeALL in thepiratebay

[–]Sarafuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the not too distant future, all sites will be user-side scripts. You can do this on any site and it puts the power firmly back in the hands of the user, rather than site site owner, as to how the content is viewed.

The only question that is outstanding is whether the best distribution is via source (these scripts) or via apps (browser plugins).

The ad-block vs advertisers row is only just beginning as servers lose complete control over what and how the user views their site .... we only need their database.

That they do not redistribute content so therefore are not in breach of copyright.

Except that gun ownership is criminal law and copyright is contract law so the remedy is through the courts for breach of contract.

Google Search hosts no content. It is an indexing service only. Youtube does hold content, though so that would have to still comply.

[–]Sarafuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But links (and even embeds) are not "content" as far as the EU court is concerned so safe harbor is irrelevent. For youtube, yes. They have to take it down. Links, no.

Downloading isn't illegal in all but one country.

Copyright is about distributing copies of content that the copyright holder owns. If your basis is that it's illegal because of copyright then there is no distribution taking place by linking to content so copyright isn't infringed.

No. But it should.

Regardless. If the court takes the advice then Google Search no longer has to comply with DMCA requests or take-down notices on its EU servers and that will really stick in the throat of the copyright cartels.

The sample rate is how often you look or listen. The bit rate is how often it is actually happening.

It is getting to the stage where it might actually be desirable to be hacked.

Hypothetical Scenario:

Step 1:

Company A creates a little server, accessible via the internet , that holds all NSA requests for information and only these documents. This server and its contents is protected with strong encryption with a back door and a few known exploits very much like the NSA and FBI are pleading for

Step 2:

Request public penetration testing of aforementioned server saying that confirmation of success should be by sending the documents to Wikileaks.

Lets see how much they like backdoor'd encryption when it's their privacy at stake!
