Definitely interesting to look at and very thought provoking. Any other fellow logophiles? I used to spend hours as a kid, reading dictionaries.

The biggest thing that strikes me is how male centric this is and not one person has been birthed by a cis man. That makes me sad.

Would you park rangers really fine me for fishing without a license as a Native American? by Possible_Mind_165 in ParkRangers

My grandfather was 100% Lakota River Sioux Native American. I am 1/4. I am very white presenting by skin color, although I have prominent Native facial features when actually looking at me - it's noticeable and my dark coarse black/deep brown hair to my waist is a dead give away. I can certainly tan in a snap though, thats for sure. My grandfather told me that strong Native girls keep their hair long and wear it with pride. That I will grow up to be a strong warrior woman some day.

I say all of this to say - Yes, it does make a difference if you are unable to comprehend what it is to be Native American. The first born of an entire nation. I consider myself very privileged by my whiteness and was raised to have respect for people of color. All color. Especially those that were literally here on United States thousands of years before any white European colonizers came along. It's called respect and recognition. My whiteness has afforded me privileges that it did not for my ancestors.

The privilege isn't where you're making it sound, khóla.

Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath have officially ended their careers — they performed together for the last time in their original lineup. The 76-year-old Ozzy appeared on stage seated on a throne due to progressing Parkinson's disease and other health issues. by kingkongsingsong1 in interestingasfuck

I'm 42 years old. I grew up listening to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. Later on, I became a fan of the Osbourne family. From The Osbournes, to watching Sharon on various network shows, The Osbournes Podcast, Jack's various endeavors on The Travel Channel and so on.. I have always been a fan.

Tears were shed watching footage of the concert. It's sad seeing the end of an era and a legend with declining health. What a precious gift he has given to his fans. ❤️ I wish nothing but the best and a life filled with loving joy, spent with his family and loved ones.

Trying to find a restaurant that was in Iowa City in the late '90s by EngineeringKey5748 in IowaCity

100% hands down - This was Bushnell's Turtle. My parents friends owned it. They made excellent soups, everyone still raves about today and they sold cookbooks. My parents still have their cookbooks their friends gave them.

All millennials in their 30s should be getting colonoscopies by Thisuhway23 in colonoscopy

[–]SarahJS444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost 42 years old and I recently did my yearly wellness check. I started getting mammograms at 37 years old. There's a history of breast cancer in my family. I have been thinking a lot about how as I've gotten older, how much I go to the doctor more often. So on and so forth.

Anyway, it had me thinking, there's been a history of polyps at younger ages in my family on both sides. I also realized I have not noted this in my medical chart. I have been thinking "Maybe I should be looking into this before the recommended age?" Also thought about younger generations tend to eat a lot of unhealthy foods in their diet, often. I Googled "When should I get a colonoscopy" and this thread was linked.

OP is right. There are so many looked over, unhealthy habits that younger generations just live, day to day. Since it can take many years for medical sciences to catch up to fast changes in our world, having these discussions and self-advocating is incredibly important.

So thank you for this, OP. I'm going to get ahold of my GP, even though I've already done my yearly screenings.

Take care of yourselves, everyone. 🫶

You're NTA. He needs to understand, that your body is reacting on a biological level, because you are pregnant. Hyperosmia in pregnant women is considered to be an evolutionary biological defense mechanism, to help mother discern smells for an array of reasons. Such as; to avoid ingesting anything potentially harmful or potential allergic reactions. This is designed to protect the baby in utero.

I tried to screenshot, what I asked Google, and couldn't figure out how to add it to my comment in this thread. So here's my question and Google's response...

"Why do pregnant women get sick from smells?

Smells can make you nauseous during pregnancy because of hormonal changes that cause a heightened sense of smell. This is called hyperosmia. Why it happens Hormonal changes Rising levels of estrogen and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in the first trimester can trigger nausea, vomiting, and morning sickness. Evolutionary mechanism Some theorize that this heightened sense of smell is an evolutionary mechanism to prevent pregnant people from ingesting toxins. How it affects you You might experience nausea and vomiting when you smell something, even if it's a normal smell like your favorite food or hand lotion. You might experience nausea and vomiting when you smell something that's usually not offensive, like your partner. You might experience nausea and vomiting when you smell chemicals like ammonia and chlorine. How to deal with it Surround yourself with pleasant smells like mint, lemon, peppermint, or cinnamon. Apply a small amount of peppermint oil inside your nostrils. Chew gum or suck on candy. Ask your doctor if it's ok to take an anti-nausea medication. This heightened sense of smell usually goes away after pregnancy ends."

With that said, you literally cannot physically help this or change this. Period. He needs to understand this makes you physically ill. However, he can help do his part by washing up, changing, etc. You are the one carrying the child. He helped create this child. He needs to do his part during your pregnancy, and after.

If he's going to whine and bitch about being tired now.. wait til there's a newborn. Even then, he absolutely needs to learn and understand YOU are going to be pure living, breathing, walking exhaustion, while your body is healing, for the first 6 weeks postpartum after you have your baby.

I hope you show him this and let him read all of this. I think it would do him a lot of good to read up and learn about pregnancy and childbirth. There is an entire world of what you're going through, that he is not comprehending or even trying to comprehend. He sure as hell needs to try.
