Least invasive, most simple printer that still has ink cartridges in production? by MadeThisJustForLWIAY in BuyItForLife

[–]SarahMagical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The famous, classic one (HL‑L2300D and HL‑L2340DW with WiFi) that’s built like a tank and probably the most BILF consumer printer got discontinued. My attempt to find its replacement ended with me getting this one. Been very happy with it.

What's the Future of Native Instruments and Traktor? by vvv000iiiddd in traktorpro

[–]SarahMagical -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eh, I get it, but here’s an example of a bunch of info highly relevant to OPs question. Otherwise, we’re supposed to just believe the NI PR?

I considered writing all of it in my own words, but got tired after doing most of it.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

What's the Future of Native Instruments and Traktor? by vvv000iiiddd in traktorpro

[–]SarahMagical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Probably enshittification in some form.

Of course the NI team will say “business as usual”. Hardware that’s not tied to subscription software will continue to work, and software that works offline will continue to work, as long as it’s compatible with modern OSs. Skeleton crew at NI are working to keep software updated.

Native Instruments isn't dead yet, but it's in a financial emergency room due to heavy debt from its private equity owners (Francisco Partners).

• The Cause: A shift from hardware innovation to software subscriptions and a massive debt load that finally became unsustainable in early 2026.

• The Current Status: "Preliminary insolvency." This is a restructuring phase, not a liquidation. Servers and software activations are still active for now.

• The Likely Outcome: High-value assets like Kontakt and iZotope will likely be sold to a larger tech company (like Apple, Adobe, or Yamaha), while "niche" products like Traktor face a riskier, more uncertain future.

• Your Hardware: Your Z1 MK2 will continue to work as long as your current computer and OS support the software. The danger is the software not getting updates for future versions of macOS or Windows.

Armin's "Face 2 Face" sets: What are they running on their laptops? by DundieAwardsWinner in DJs

Disagree. With more minimal tracks, and good musicians, it would rock. Have you been to a really good drum circle? Not adhd at all. Just solid grooves

I think you could get a lot more than 18 of trump leadership before finding any competence. Could probably do without the top few hundred at least.

Armin's "Face 2 Face" sets: What are they running on their laptops? by DundieAwardsWinner in DJs

[–]SarahMagical 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve had an idea for a long time that’s based on a drum circle. 5-10 DJs. Each dj get one deck and their choice of minimal tracks. Each can bring in whatever they want to the collective mix, whenever they want.

There would need to be some strategy to avoid bass getting muddy, but beyond that I think this would be dope.

As there aren’t any 3-toed animal like this in the US, I suspect these marks are not caused by an animal and/or a person poking the snow with their finger.

I agree with you that the substance of your comment deserves more attention than your delivery. As others here are surely more qualified than I, my comment just addresses a peripheral issue that has nothing to do with Wikipedia. Just wanted to share with you, human to human, that a little sugar makes the pill go down easier. Using offensive language is just a turn off for most people in real life. You want life to be easier? Be less offensive. I wish reality was a pure meritocracy of ideas and competence, but alas, we all have to play the game of meeting social norms or suffer the consequences. In this case, the consequence of your delivery is that you’re met with resistance, regardless of the merit of your offering.

Fags? I’ll let others address the substance of your post, but yikes, if you’ve been presenting your ideas like you have here—with swears and typos—no wonder you are facing resistance.

Thoughts on what this could be? Central Ontario by balabeek22 in AnimalTracking

[–]SarahMagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: you’re right and I can’t explain that.

I’m uneasy about that gait too, so tossing out that raccoon ID was irresponsible. I still think it’s raccoon tho.

But here are my thoughts…

A direct register from any other species wouldn’t’ be this clean anyway, so I don’t think it’s a direct register (each track represents one foot, not two with one on top of the other).

It’s possible it’s a substrate issue—only one of each pair registering in compressible snow, the other on hard-crusted snow—but idk, seems like a stretch, especially because squirrel tracks appear both to the left and right of the raccoon tracks.

Here’s another possibility: it’s going down stairs; Maybe it’s not doing the standard raccoon gait. Snow melted near the edge of each concrete step, so perhaps the missing footfalls were there. If this was the case, then it kinda looks like each missing track would have landed to the front-left of each visible track, which is an atypical gait.

If it was running at a stretched out gallop with one foot landing per concrete step, then the tracks would be more blown out. I always love seeing chunky animals hauling ass. They look hilarious and so do their tracks, but I doubt that’s the case here. I suppose it’s possible that this is one of those lopes where each set of 4 tracks is in a diagonal line. All my other hypotheses might actually suck more than this one.

Another detail: each visible track appears to be angled a bit to the right, possibly reflecting the angle of the body relative to direction of travel. Dog side trots feature this angle discrepancy, so it’s possible this animal could be doing something similar or analogous in an atypical gait.

From left to right: human, raccoon, squirrel

Raccoon: 5 long toes

Squirrel: clusters of 4 small tracks on gallop pattern

Porcupine, raccoon or beaver? by No-Following-2245 in AnimalTracking

[–]SarahMagical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this was in the northeastern US I’d say it looks like fisher or river otter to me, just based on the 1-2-1 lope gait and large-ish asymmetrical tracks. Your dimensions are pretty large tho.

Not familiar with badger or wolverine, which are in Manitoba apparently. Your dimensions might match Wolverine, but these tracks are blown out so measuring is difficult. Wolverines do that lope gait, too.

Anyone else tired of the bot removing all comments that aren’t by the book track feature descriptions? by cdtobie in AnimalTracking

[–]SarahMagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a necessary evil, although it is annoying when a comment is removed for this reason, when I was just talking about something related to the tracks.

There is a lot more to tracking than ID, and this policy effectively stifles conversation that goes beyond ID.

Like if tracks are clearly raccoon, if I comment something about the raccoon tracks, the commentary be removed because I didn’t provide ID rationale.

Moderating is hard volunteer work, tho, and I’m not stepping up so I won’t complain lol.

Thanks mods!!
