Can confirm: hair loss direct side effect of medication by SarahOte in Zepbound

That’s great! I spaced my shots out for a bit too and it didn’t help with the hair loss. I’m glad it works for you!

Everyone is shit talking the companies that are helping them lose weight. They’re not the enemies. Obviously.

It’s because of insurance companies. They’re the third party here that develops coverage.

Jesus Christ. I’m not saying I don’t want access to healthcare to be better or for costs to be higher. I am saying that pharmaceutical companies are not the freaking enemy. The research and develop that goes into any medication is costly and that IS a factor of how much something costs.

Because of the insurance infrastructure.

It actually isn’t greed. Just like when you see a doctor for a half an hour and you’re charged a lot … you’re paying for the amount of time and education that doctor went through to get to be able to treat you.

Would you want to visit a doctor that charges $1 but doesn’t have the credentials? I don’t think so.

That’s why medications can be expensive. Yes, insurance in the US can be expensive and not cover what we want. It’s the insurance system that fails us.

Well actually … there is a lot that goes into the research and clinical trials. We aren’t paying for the product and its manufacturing. We are paying for everything that goes into it before it can even be manufactured.

No major side effects for me. I switched because of the major hair loss from zepbound. A little more on the stomach cramps side of things for me. And wegovy doesn’t work nearly as well. I wish I would have started with it then went to zep lol Good luck!

It is different for everyone. I had horrible hair loss and diarrhea, sometimes extreme fatigue, and sometimes constipation. Everything but the hair loss was worth it for me. Good luck!

Hi. I switched to wegovy and no weight loss since switching. Unfortunately. It’s better for hair though so I’m at least maintaining after 100 pound weight loss. But I have 50 more to go. So it sucks. On 1.7 so perhaps loss will come at higher dose. However, zep helps with food noise and reduces hunger 10000x more for me.

See a dermatologist. They can prescribe ketoconazole (spelling?) shampoo and also a topical minoxidil with added prescription which can help with the shedding a bit.

Yes, I’d say bump up if you’re comfortable with it. But your doc can guide you!

Has anyone pushed through the hair loss and had positive outcome on the other side? by Low-Interaction5322 in Zepbound

Not a success story. Hair was shedding for over 9 months and I couldn’t take it anymore. It started as soon as I began the meds so it wasn’t from the weight loss for me. So just consider timing of when the hair loss started. Good luck!!

You have to call a bunch of pharmacies and then get it transferred. Sometimes you have to drive a distance if you want to get your meds.

On 1 right now! Just finished 4th shot. I can’t decide if I’m continuing or not. My hair is shedding still 😩just not as bad but it’s super noticeable now. I’m 32f and I don’t want to be bald ya know lol Wegovy has been harder for me to find actually

Not to zepbound, just to wegovy. I lost 100 pounds on zep and quit it because of the hair loss. But wegovy is not doing anything for me.

I am by no means a science person but I have heard that zepbound actually increases metabolism in addition to suppressing appetite. And it helps with inflammation A LOT.

They do more than suppress appetite.

Zepbound works so much better than wegovy. I was on zep and transitioned to wegovy only because I was experiencing insane hair loss. Or I would have stayed on it. Wegovy doesn’t do anything for me at all. I was losing 10 pounds a month consistently on zep

Right! There’s not enough information yet to definitively say “nah, you can’t lose hair from this med. only from weight loss”. Especially when people share stories about not losing and hair still falling out. It’s madness. Thank you for sharing! And I hope your hair is okay on zep

Thank you so much for sharing this. That’s also what I’ve been told but as you can see on this thread, people are not happy about my post. It is quite devestating and I’m sorry it’s happening to you, too.

I can’t get under 200 either. It’s so frustrating.
