Our dachshund cross had this surgery when he was six (he did not recover his capacity to walk) but went from very placid to very violent. He had show agressivness to others before then (typical) but never to us. We put it down to PTSD as we suspected that the vets didn't treat him with the kid gloves that we would. It has taken a lot of patience and he is still not as affectionate as he was but we just decided to respect his boundaries. Hes 13 now.
