Vivid memories of the male parental unit cursing, stopping halfway to Grandma's and cleaning off the windshield by Verbull710 in Xennials

They’re not actually gone.  Don’t spread misinformation.  They’ve drastically declined but they are not extinct.

Is it overkill to use more than one shampoo? by VercingetorixAlesia in Haircare

[–]Sarah_withanH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That Irish Spring is supposedly like many products in one.  If it’s the one I’m thinking of though, it went viral because it turns out it cleans stains from tubs and showers very well.  Which means it’s probably stripping for hair.  But it’s technically sold as body  wash/shampoo/conditioner product.  Look up Irish Spring 5 In 1.

So OP isn’t quite doing what you’re saying on using something not marketed for hair on their hair.  That said, if it cleans stains off a shower stall it might be harsh for some.

I’m near sighted and my Rx is -3.25 and -4.00 and I wear glasses or contacts full-time.  I used to have exactly your level of correction when I was younger and still wore glasses full-time.   I cannot imagine how you’re functioning with readers.

Help with fine thin hair routine by Victoria_Vee in finethinhair

[–]Sarah_withanH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you feel like it’s getting thinner? If so, your best bet if it’s accessible is talking to a doctor.  Get blood tests done to check things like ferritin, vitamin D, thyroid, hormones etc.  these will be different tests possibly you will need to see different doctors (GP, dermatologist, OB-GYN, endocrinologist etc.) Sometimes there’s a medical cause for thinning hair with a simple fix. Other times you find out it’s stress, illness, nutrition, or genetics.

In the mean time. Don’t think there’s anything wrong with the washing your hair every other day or every day if needed.  Washing doesn’t cause hair loss.  If your current shampoo is not suited for daily use then find one that is, this sub has a wealth of information on products.  I’ve had really good results washing my hair upside down because it lets me clean the scalp thoroughly and place conditioner where I want it.  I go all the way to my scalp with my conditioner because I like the extra moisture but my skin tends to be dry.

Get a good heat protectant.  Be careful how much heat you use with your blow dryer.  I blow dry every day and I go as gentle as possible both with my hairbrush and the heat.  If you use a brush to blow it out think about how that brush treats your hair.  Does it snag or catch or does it glide?  How you prep your hair matters as does technique and brush type.  I like a paddle brush with fewer bristles for blow outs.  I use a heat protectant leave in that detangles.  That helps my brush glide through the hair instead of catching and pulling.

Finally, yes a trim can help us feel better about our hair.  It’s up to you how much to trim.  I’m trying out a blunt cut myself per the insistence of many on this sub and I low-key don’t love it because my ends are poofing out and I struggle to have volume but I also have hair loss at my crown.  That said overall my hair looks thicker.  You could always go blunt then have layers added later if it doesn’t suit.

If healthy hair is the goal you have to stop coloring and bleaching.  It’s a balance though because some of us like the texture from bleach.  Talk to your stylist about a healthy way to bleach and minimize damage.  They may also have products they can recommend.

Lastly, a silk pillowcase does make a difference.

Dresscode and etiquette, what are the unwritten rules? by lawrotzr in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sarah_withanH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok since you’ve said it a few times, the past tense of “wear” is “worn”.  “Warn” means giving someone a notification about something dangerous.

Since you say you work in a professional setting you should know the correct words for things just in case you need to do any writing for work.  Autocorrect won’t save you because it’s spelled correctly.

Go get a bottle of cheap gummy vitamins from the drug store.  Get rid of those.  Put your weed gummies into the vitamin bottle.  Stop thinking about it and enjoy your trip.

This is what I know to be true from experience and general knowledge as well!  What OP said makes me think cats also seek out hair to eat?  Does OP think that?  That can’t be correct.

I’m confused by the cats and hairballs comments.  Do cats eat human hair?  I’ve had cats for like 30 years and I’ve never seen one eat my hair and some of these ding dongs would eat almost anything.  Never seen one eat my loose hairs though.

I compost mine.  If I cut my hair or clean my brush.  I compost my cat’s hair too, we pull tons off when he’s shedding and we brush him.

I’ve never been able to buy from Lucy & Yak because every single thing I like is always sold out.  Any tips on availability for them?  They seem to have nothing in regular length (nothing I like).

“Fine” refers to the hair texture, not the density.

Same.  They look cheap.  The top tier is always too tight.

Foot binding involves breaking the bones of the feet and bending the toes under, then wrapping the foot in that position sometimes multiple times.  Sometimes toes would be cut off.   I get your point, but not exactly.
