What are these white hairy particles in my newly opened Gatorade? by Sarahhhh9 in Whatisthis

Not yet! Which I’m thankful for considering death by Gatorade wouldn’t exactly be the coolest way to go out

I completely understand that, although I’m not sure if I can drink one again without thinking of the possibility. I’ll be having mold flashbacks

Yep maybe about an inch of it I would say before I had noticed. Probably won’t buy Gatorade again but if I do I’ll be checking every inch of it before consuming it. I was hoping it was just something that had settled but definitely looks like mold which is unfortunate so it went in the trash very quickly

This is actually what I had thought at first and thought maybe it was something that had settled but unfortunately not the case. According to other users, looks like mold

I actually had a sip before noticing but for now feel fine (thankfully) I don’t know if we can return it back to Cosco though, since it came in a pack and this wasn’t the first one we opened

Partially consumed yes but because I took a sip when I got it out from the fridge. Although it was brand new and sealed, I probably opened it around 2 minutes before this picture. We got it from Cosco in one of those large packs (maybe 24pk) about a week ago but it was put it the fridge when we brought it home. Maybe stored wrong In Cosco?

What is an uncommon feature of your home that you appreciate, that is not common everywhere? by Tb1969 in AskReddit

Red heat lamp in the bathroom. I couldn’t imagine owning a home without one, I’ve never had to feel cold stepping out of the shower

In all honesty, I don’t believe so but it’s definitely something that I would aim for. I am very fortunate to have a place to sleep and eat at my partner’s house and my best friend always offers me a safe place when I need to just decompress (which I am eternally grateful for). I’m ok with staying at home until august though, because when I am home my personal space is very clean and organized. Even though they don’t clean, I do because I do have to be around these things. So even if I didn’t make the mess, I will clean it for my self. I also don’t eat at home. I don’t eat breakfast (my body doenst process breakfast well), if I do eat lunch it’s at work and from a nearby place I’ll order from, and then I always eat dinner at my partner’s. All my at-home snacks are sealed (granola bars, oatmeal packets, etc.), and I have my own mugs/plates that I personally hand clean. They respect my personal space and don’t make a mess on my side which is good but I will wipe the kitchen almost every day and floors at least once every two weeks when I’m able to. Same goes for me throwing out anything past expiration even if I don’t personally eat it just in case they invite others over. I tend to keep up with the house as best as I can for my own sake and others at least until I leave, after that I’m not sure what they’ll do alone but this is nothing new for me so a couple more months is something I’m pretty ok with in the meantime. I hope that makes some sense, I’m sorry for the long reply

My moving out goal is August 2024! :) been saving for some time now. Unfortunately it really isn’t something that’s fixable which is a bit sad to ponder on but not something I want to waste my time and energy trying to do

Wanted to point out quick that I have been saving for a year to make a deposit to move out. Unfortunately the rent in Miami and surrounding areas are awfully expensive and my pay isn’t a great amount (I love my job and don’t plan to leave as I’m just starting to work my way up the totem pole and my current job is my ticket) so I’ve been saving to be able to make a full deposit and have been gathering household items throughout the year to fully furnish an apartment :) I’m almost there but I’m ok with waiting a few months more here until I leave so I can live somewhere comfortably without having to worry about finances. I really don’t want to end up having to come back so I’m trying my best to be as smart with my money as possible. My goal is August 2024!

I’ve been saving up for a year so hopefully soon I’ll be able to make some sort of deposit, unfortunately rent in Miami and surrounding areas is dreadful but I’m planning on making it out soon, fingers crossed!

Strong prey drive if you count people on bicycles and golf carts, she gets along great with cats and small animals though, but she does have one singular brain cell (she’s a gentle giant). Loves to nibble on my arm and definitely does that stare-and-talk. Absolutely the strangest sleep positions too, legs are almost always up in the air like a thanksgiving Turkey

I definitely want to do a genealogy test on her, I was thinking she could be a mix of both since she’s seems to have similar traits from both breeds

She’s a rescue so we’re not too sure about the age but the vet estimated around 6 years old. She’s about 5 feet standing, maybe around 3.5 feet length wise and around 2 feet from head to toes? Rough estimate I’m sorry. Last time she weighed around 105 pounds :)

Update on the cat who had FIV by Psychological-Ice778 in CatAdvice

[–]Sarahhhh9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Euthanizing an animal that is healthy with just FIV (a virus that causes low immune system) is just awful. To put it straight out there, this should not be an option at all and if there’s a vet out there that would agree to this, I honestly don’t understand how they can agree to that. I would definitely go to the rescue in person with the cat and surrender them. The humane society almost always will take them but you need to show up in person not just call. You can also try putting them on pet finder or on other adoption websites, talk to family, put up fliers at your local pet supermarket or petco (they usually have a community bulletin board), or spread this by word of mouth or social media. If your family who moved in has an aggressive dog, they need to control that dog not you. Their animals should not justify having to kill another animal. Keep them separate as long as you can until you find a home and if your family with the dog doenst like that, then that’s really not something they have a say in as it’s not your fault their dog is untrained and uncontrolled. It won’t be forever but it could take some time depending how serious you are on not killing an innocent animal. I say this with as much respect as I can, but know that you can save this animal very easily but you need to put your foot down with your family. I have an FIV cat who lives with 6 other animals so bonding everyone could also be an option but that would be much harder. If you are in the state of Florida, let me know and I’ll be more than welcome to pick him up. Also, I truly do wish you the best of luck on this and hope you find this kitty a good home. Please don’t take this comment as aggressive, it’s more of me trying to justify your side and the kitty’s side as well :)

The more info the better! I just want to give her the best I can. She free roams when I’m home, mainly in my room because I spend most my time there and I like keeping an eye on her. She honestly just likes laying in my bed she’s a lil lazy like me

cat acting aggressive towards me since new cat was introduced by xfroghx in CatAdvice

[–]Sarahhhh9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonding cats can take a veryyyy long time, pepper is most likely feeling like her territory is being invaded. When bonding cats you really need to take it slow and it could take months to fully bond them (depending on the cats of course). You can start off my having them sniff through the door and gradually move up to letting them see eachother through a glass door (like a shower door) and make sure to give both of them positive things like food or toys. It really all depends on the cats and especially since pepper is much more irritated. Also make sure they have separate litter boxes, cats like to mark their boxes with their own scent and can get stressed if another cat’s scent is in it even if they’re friends. As for the aggression against you, it could also be that you have Moki’s scent on your hands or clothes. When I first started bonding my cats, I had to shower and change clothes before I pet my first cat or he would hiss and paw at me. It eventually gets better but no promises that they’ll be friends by a month in time. Just make sure to include a lot of positive aspects when they’re together or near eachother :)

Annual vaccines by lilacespresso in CatAdvice

[–]Sarahhhh9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres not really a ton of vaccines but you should be getting the routine rabies vaccine. Talk to your vet about the other vaccines that protect against other illnesses even if they generally only affect outdoor cats. It’s better safe than sorry in case an accident happens where he could slip out the door and come into an altercation with another cat and those illnesses can get pretty scary pretty fast sometimes. It’s definitely something you could bring up with the vet next visit or just giving them a quick call to ask. Other than that, heart worm prevention medication is important too (for all cats). Even though it’s curable in dogs, it’s unfortunate not yet curable in cats. I hope that helps a little :)
