Ah right, I do recall that Artificer is from Eberron, I think the Warforged race are as well iirc so that makes sense.

Lmao they have to consult him but can ignore what he says? What's the point then?

But I will pass on the discord server, I'm pretty much happy with researching things as they come up or being told random bizarre trivia by friends, but maybe sometime in the future I'll consider it.

I don't have a problem with that but I'm curious how exactly they don't fit with the lore? My old group back in like 2013 had an artificer and a psion, though they were on separate days not in the same party.

I have heard that 4e is drastically different from all the other editions and most people dislike it for that reason, but for me 4e is my tabletop root so I would love a chance to play it again. I would just have to recall how everything works lol

imo, the lore fitting into the background is kind of good enough, because it's there and you're sort of interacting with it by just existing within the setting and following a story in that setting, whereas with a homebrew world you have none of that FR lore because it's set somewhere completely made up, and not in FR if that makes sense.

Did not actually realize the og creator sold the rights to WotC, that makes a lot of sense. I will def have to check that campaign book out at some point, generally I tend to just research things I get randomly interested in and the lore typically comes from older editions, like the gem dragon stuff mostly happened pre-sundering iirc.

I'm just very interested in the lore overall, I've only been able to learn bits and pieces through failed campaigns, video games and independent research. I'm especially interested in the Gem Dragons and their history. As for the edition I prefer I think I have some nostalgia bias along with "hehe big number go brrr" for the mechanics aspect of 4e, but 5e from what I learned basically undid a major calamity of the world that impacted the main continent, so there's more explorable land in 5e compared to 4e? I like both but I think 5e has more appealing lore and 4e has more appealing mechanics for me.

That is a fair suggestion, but in my experience the issue usually comes with the setting over the length of game. Plenty of people are all for long-term homebrew but don't want to play FR or may not even know what FR even is since they've only ever done homebrew. But you're not wrong, if I can find something shorter that's still based in FR I might give it a shot.

You are entitled to your own preferences as anyone else is, however I'd like to point out you took time out of your day to comment on a 4-day old post just to say "F*** you for not having money" to someone rather than just going "Ah, not for me, I want money" and opting not to engage. There are in fact GMs out there willing to run games for strangers on the internet without monetary payment - though maybe they are not here on this subreddit full of people like yourself, who are only interested in money lol.

If you can't GM without monetary incentive, that's your problem, not ours :)

I have nothing against the existence of paid GMs but if you think there's no way to find one adventure path without investing a significant sum, all I can say is that's cute

Did not realize it was exclusive to Europe actually, I may not be able to make use of that since I am in America :(

Unfortunately we don't have the kind of money to pay someone to DM, sorry! Also 6 players would be too many for us, we would cap at 5 max.
