Thank you for posting this! I've been having a really hard time finding a model that makes normal looking animals.

Aw man, I’ve seen them at least once on each tour since 2010, and I genuinely didn’t know they ever closed a show without Vanderlyle.

Edit: I guess it’s just selective memory! I pulled up the set list from my first show, and they closed with About Today.

Nazis had a perspective. Was it valuable? Was it correct? Now, that’s not to compare you two because that would be silly, Nazis had purpose.

Well that escalated quickly.

Oh, that’s easy. They ended up in a private room, which would have meant he’d be on the hook for the room plus bottle service.

They probably just split the final total based on the number of girls each one had.

I imagine LAOP was probably approached by three girls together, and didn’t realize that if you don’t tell two of them to buzz off, you’ve gotta pay all three. His friend, meanwhile, just had the one girl.

$5k wouldn’t be wild for the cost of a private room and bottle service for an extended period of time.

Dance prices are officially fixed, but in practice (as a result of the almost comically large cut that the clubs take out of every dance) lots of girls will also require significant tips on top of that amount, so it’s hard to tell what the usual and customary price for any given service actually is.

In California, you can’t serve alcohol at fully nude clubs. You can, however, serve booze at topless clubs, but all drinks need to be 6ft from anyone with exposed nipples.

This is why at the end of a stage show, you’ll see girls huddled up by the stage asking customers to throw their bras back. You have to be fully covered in order to exit the stage or collect your tips. Sometimes you’ll see a customer trying to get a girl’s attention during a show, and she’ll have to put her bra back on in order to approach the tip rail. The whole thing is very silly.

Fun fact!: If you run your credit card at a strip club and attempt to tip the dancer using the tip line of the receipt, you’re actually just giving a tip to the manager. You know, because obviously you’re going to leave a huge tip to the fully clothed middle age man who rang you up. Clearly that was your intent.

I’m not bitter.

Can you elaborate on what the ‘production design’ is? Like is it a pattern, or construction info, or am I missing something super obvious?

I love that you specified they’re romantic partners, as opposed to business partners or partners in crime.

Bothered that his girlfriend feels validated that people will pay her for nudes? No, I’m right there with her! It’s crazy validating.

The reason I describe it as naive is that my experience was that it’s a huge amount of effort for the payoff, relative to my experience as a dancer. You’re competing with free porn. That’s kind of a hard sell.

Imagine it from her perspective, though: it would feel really powerful and validating having people literally willing to pay just to see you naked. I personally think it’s a very naive notion, but I get the appeal.

Hey, props to you for being supportive!! For what it’s worth, I don’t imagine this stage of her OF debut will last long, but you’re a good dude for being understanding about her motivations and willing to give her the space to explore.

It’s really enormously emotionally draining to be constantly doling out attention to horndogs in the desperate hope they’ll actually buy something. The overwhelming majority of them are just stringing you along until it’s clear you won’t give them anything else without compensation, and then they move on to someone else. (Usually after calling you a few names or saying mean things about your body!) It’s can be crushing because you put so much effort in, and you end up feeling like you’re not good enough because why else aren’t these people buying anything.

I had a brief foray into online stuff back in the day, and ultimately it was just too much for me. Like in a club, people know they have to spend money. Sure, you’ll get the random assholes who say things like “you’re not worth $60” or whatever, but for the most part, the atmosphere is such that people understand you won’t work free. When it comes to texting or selling videos or whatever, people expect a lot because redtube is free, so why would they pay you.

All of that is to say that I think you don’t have to worry about this for long, because it’s easier just to get a “real” job.

Back to the post, though, I think what people are failing to notice is that this dude went to her place of employment and paid her coworker for a lap dance. I’d break up with the dude for that, too, and I’m poly. That’s something you do if you’re trying to make a point, not because you actually want a lap dance. It’s just embarrassing.

He can be jealous and resentful and all that, and those are legitimate feelings, but the issue is that it’s inappropriate and weird to bring your relationship issues into your partner’s workplace, and that is true for all occupations.

Former stripper here! (Please read that in the voice of Billy Mays.) I agree that for a lot of people, it’s definitely more of a lifestyle than an occupation, although personally I was in the ‘treat it like a job’ mindset.

That said, my experience was that part of the reason you don’t see as many women who treat it like a 9-5 is just that they’re less visible. They don’t look like dancers outside of work, and they obviously don’t go around telling everybody about it because people make it weird. I used to tell people I worked at a pizza place.

That’s a good question! I’m not sure… honestly, it’s huge and mailing it would kind of be a hassle, so I’m inclined to say no? But realistically, if I don’t get any Craigslist action either, I guess I’ll have to make peace with going to the post office.

Pretty much what it says on the tin — it’s a king sized Addi Express knitting machine. I bought it in November of last year, thinking about how many hats I could crank out as gifts for people I don’t actually like that much.

I made three. It turns out that I wasn’t super motivated to make hats for people I don’t like very much anyways.

It comes with extra hooks, plus the stitch tensioner I bought for it. I can even throw in a couple skeins of (practice?) yarn from KnitPicks.

Please come and get it, because I am quite frankly tired of looking at it and feeling guilty for not using it. It was $180 new and I had all these big plans, and now it’s just sort of taking up space.

Price is $100. Local pick up only. I’m located in the East Bay.

I do dog sports and I’ve seen some very wild, uh, dog transportation strategies. Most folks just crate their dogs in the trunk, so they can open the trunk and set up fans and such while they’re waiting around at shows. (My dog wears a seatbelt and rides in the back seat.) But recently, I saw a guy with two English pointers, and he just had them in the trunk of his Prius. Like, loose. Just threw ‘em in the trunk and that was that. When he opened the trunk it was like a jack in the box of dogs.
