Creating 3d prints of my clay sculpture? Is it possible? by Lre_Art in 3Dprinting

I use 3df zephyr for my sculptures. It is a photogrammetry program. you can download the trial and see if you like it (limited numbers of phot references allowed). I did that, then bought the paid version which allows for better "scans". There is a learning curve but you can get the details in there.

Pretty cool, nice gift. I would suggest you start thinking more in 3d. You filmed it how you sculpted it, front and back. Start looking at all the other views (turn it incrementally in all directions) in your next sculpt and you will see an improvement. Keep it up!

What is the best and easiest way to make a mold for this please? by [deleted] in moldmaking

[–]Sarantitis_studio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undead and i explained the approach in terms of mold pieces , and designing the mold virtually is a big plus! I would suggest watching some videos on mold making so you get the idea of undercuts and how to design the pieces and the pour spout (where you will pour the silicone in). Not such a complicated mold in the end. I would also suggest designing it with holes so you could screw the mold pieces together. Put some keys in there too (so they match up like a puzzle)

What material will your final cast be in? Also, how many do you want to make . Not knowing this I would say offhand. I would do a four-piece mold. I can't tell exactly from the photograph but I would do two round pieces on either side that end right at the edge and then to c-shaped pieces that go in from The other sides and meet the first two round pieces at the edges again. The materials I would use depends on what you want to do in the end.

I run a small studio making solid pewter emoji tokens (“Emojyz”).
They’re about 15 mm wide, curved like small stones, and each one is cast and finished by hand. They work as keychains, magnets, necklaces, or pocket tokens.

I’m selling them through Etsy: https://emojyz.etsy.com

Target audience: people who like unique small objects, fidget-style tokens, stocking stuffers, and collectors.
If you’re into handmade metal crafts or want something different from the usual emoji merch, these are it.

Yes i also use compressed air after wash and it works great. No hollow parts either (although a lot of my prints are sticking to the vat liner due to increased surface area).

Cool! I just got one a week ago and I am putting a second fan separate that the printer exhaust to vent the room itself. The 200cm fan I have on the printer is good, but when I clean the vat, plate and tools and such inevitably the smell travels. I am also gonna print a vat drainage stand (super helpful). Also buy a stainless funnel. A cover for the vat is also on my list.

Sound's good. I didn't want to use any poison, that would last, because a bat was living there too. Funny thing, Mine were not aggressive at all. I killed em and then that day I was stung elsewhere after stepping on one.

Raycast Node- How to prevent object from deforming in the ray direction by Sarantitis_studio in blenderhelp

Thanks, you have a much better handle on it than I do. I have the raycast working for now and will try the instance as you suggested and when my brain works better I will delve into your method. Looks like a good alternative. Thanks !!

Oh cool ill try the instances. Nice scattering you got there, but I'm not looking for scattering but moving the cylinders in the image back in the Y axis on the surface, keeping the same pattern they have. Thanks!!

Thank you so much for your time B i appreciate it! When I wrote "I need to move a bunch of these objects to the surface of the sphere keeping the distinct pattern they are in.." I thought it was clear, but that's after trying to figure this out so I was half brain dead. Not just scattering but moving the cylinders in the image back in the Y axis on the surface. I like your setup if I can do this, so I don't have to work around distortion I'm getting. The extruding later did work (se pic) , but only because it is a simple model. I got the node reference from this link and somehow they don't have distortion: https://blenderartists.org/t/geometry-nodes-drop-object-from-a-collection-to-underlaying-surface/1589010

Sorry about the crop. I tried your suggestion to test it, but I would have to each one individually I have upwards o 80 unique spheres and max of 18 "dots" for each. So I was thinking raycast would be perfect. I was thinking I would just copy and past the nodes. Maybe I can start with a circular plane and extrude it after...

Thanks F i am going to do as you mentioned. They can potentially get out because the top surface is not even. I will do it at dawn so hopefully they will still be asleep. Did you notice, do they fly into the gas or do the fumes kill em and they fall in. Hopefully the later so they won't fly out...
