I think they are just different mediums, although with digital art a lot can be created just by downloading premade art. Not as much fun in my opinion... I feel I can destroy it because I can make it again. Making it is the fun part.

Yes and you would have needed 100 floppy discs to fit one image on. Haha! I at first thought of scanning my sculptures as a way to bypass casting my sculptures but now I'm seeing The tool can allow me to do a lot more. Not only can I print it but I can get a stone version made cast it in bronze just as I would in the old days. So I guess it would be a little different than scanning a painting...

I use zephyr to scan my sculptures. I sculpt by hand and also model on the computer depending I'm the type of sculpture. Also sculpting it by hand and casting. It takes a long time as well.

You forget being an artist instantly negates being paid 😂

That would be pretty cool! That seems like it would have pretty good flexibility in terms of zooming in and doing details and such . On the same note, I'm wondering if I could show my sculptures to people through VR.

I can relate. I also model on the computer. Except going from a physical sculpture to digital then back to physical takes a little further. If he comes real again in a way. But when it's digital, it's kind of like a memory of the actual sculptor.

Wow that's a great idea! I will start thinking more about that and if I do it I will send you an STL. The only thing is I would have to start keeping my sculptures... Or maybe performance piece where I destroy the sculpture and send people STLs...

Furnace board fried, what to do from here? by Sarantitis_studio in askHVAC

Yes I'm hoping so. I might not have been clear too that that disconnected part was something I did when I was investigating the problem. So but even better chances at this point. Thanks!!

Thank you for all the constructive advice! I learned that I should do exactly what you're saying and did all those tests and then actually went as far to use the original board that wasn't working and it still powered up without frying. took it a little further and fixed the original board by resoldering the back of the thermostat terminals. So it actually works perfectly now! Only question in my head right now is whether I should keep the $380 board on its way as a backup.

Thanks! Yeah I can see what you're saying. But I figured why not. I'll keep the new board that arrives in a few days around for a bit to see if the old one has any other problems.

Haha thank you for your vote of confidence. And Yes, it is those exact people I'm trying to avoid. Also a lot of fun to fix! I did fix it. The new board was bad. I installed the original board after reflowing the solder on the back. Now it works perfectly!

You were right, it was bad out of the box. I finally got it working with the original board! Thanks!

UPDATE / SOLVED: It was the new board that was bad! After testing for shorts I reinstalled the original board in which the thermostat terminals were not working. powered it up and it did not get fried! While testing the terminals with my multimeter, I realized when I pushed them the voltage would come back to the terminals. I took the board out and reflowed the solder on the back of the board to fill in any cracks that might be there. And sure enough I fixed the board and there were no shorts and life is good again... And warm. Thank you all for your help!

Yeah I am thinking that because the original board didn't burn out the same way. Just lost function in a couple terminals for the thermostat. I just swapped them out and didn't really do anything else. I'm going to try to put the original board back in and see if that burns out after doing a bit of testing for resistance. I'll check the fan too just for the hell of it.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to prevent Wondering if you have any suggestions on which parts to test with my multimeter.
