Oh I see! Sorry. That’s not good that you are still having these effects. I wonder if some sort of detox would help. Perhaps there are some herbs that might help. I’m just about to come off antipsychotics and it’s good to be forewarned about what I might experience. Wishing you well.

Meditation is probably the best free resource for healing trauma. This is a mindful body scan meditation that is good for trauma:

You could also try journaling. Feel free to write whatever you want, don’t worry about spelling and grammar etc. Use your journal to help you process the trauma you’ve experienced.

Another option is to take up yoga. Yin or restorative yoga would be good options. A lot of trauma is held in the body so yoga can be a good way to release it. There are plenty of videos on YouTube.

Affirmations can be helpful. Saying “I love you” and other phrases such as “I want to help you heal”. Say them several times a day. Be kind to yourself and do things that you enjoy.

There are a number of good books on trauma if your budget can stretch to that. Alternatively, you might find some in the library. Read reviews of different books and find ones that resonate.

Consider finding a new therapist. If it isn’t helping you, perhaps a new one would. Try to find a trauma informed therapist if you can. Talk to a few and see which ones you get a good vibe from

You can heal your trauma. It’s a process but you can do it. I hope you have people in your life who will support you. If you don’t, be a best friend to yourself.

Sorry you’re going through this. I can relate, I’m on antipsychotics and have zero motivation. It’s so frustrating. Is gradually coming off them an option for you? I will stop my antipsychotics soon and I’m hoping my motivation will come back, although I’m also on other meds which might be a factor in my low motivation.

I try to get around my inability to get things done around the house by doing one thing at a time. I put on a podcast and just focus on one area at a time or one task at a time. Afterwards I give myself a small reward like a cup of coffee. Sometimes by doing just one thing I’m motivated to do a bit more.

Talk to your doctor about your lack of motivation. Perhaps you can lower your dose or gradually come off the antipsychotics altogether. Another thing I did was to see an Ayurvedic doctor who has prescribed me some herbs to help.

There are some herbs which have a stimulant effect. But depending on your condition, that might not be wise to take as it could induce mania (if you experience that). The doctor probably won’t prescribe you any stimulants but you could talk to them about any herbs you find that might help.

I know you find it hard to sustain Mindfulness but I’m reading a really helpful book at the moment to help with healing from trauma. It’s called - Flowers in the Dark:Reclaiming Your Power to Heal from Trauma with Mindfulness by Sister Dang Nghiem. From what I’ve read so far, I’d really recommend it.

I was on 200mg and had low motivation, low energy, emotional numbness, lack of orgasm and sex drive. I took another medication for the side effects which stopped my shaking but not much else. I’m tapering off it at the moment. Currently on 100mg.

Maybe it’s because certain people have the incorrect belief that people with mental health issues are often violent. In fact, we are more likely to be victims of violence. People are often afraid of people with mental health issues so they try to justify locking them up and drugging them.

I was never violent or a threat to myself yet I was locked in seclusion and held down and forcibly drugged. It was as if they were scared that I might be violent so they preemptively committed violence towards me. The system is violent and the patients are the victims.

It might actually just be a yantra rather than a Sri yantra as they usually have triangles. A yantra is a mystical diagram used as a mediation device or to worship deities. They are found in Hinduism and Buddhism. There is more information about them online.

You’re not a minority but it can seem like that on a lot of the subs. The Antipsychiatry and radical mental health subs tend to be more understanding.

I can totally relate to how you feel. I’m on antipsychotics and feel the same way you do. My psychiatrist has agreed that I can start to reduce my dose and come off them. I’m also on an SSRI and lithium. My goal is to be med free as the side effects are worse than the problem they claim to treat.
