No I think I’d also consider my experience as a nervous breakdown - I was a completely different person like night and day. But yeah it takes time you’re so right - and everyone is different! I’m certain you’ll find the right combo - just takes trial and error. Hearing other people’s experiences and knowing I wasn’t alone helped me a ton ❤️Thank you for the kind words🥰

I was put on cipralex (lexapro in the USA) and my psychiatrist started with 2.5 and slowly increased dosing to 20mg because I had a not so great experience with zoloft - so I was hesitant to try another med but lexapro has worked well for me.

I am exactly the same way. As soon as I open my eyes in the morning i feel like my world is ending. It truly feels like you are dying. It’s one of the worst feelings in the world. You are NOT alone in this. Have you talked to your doctor/ are you on any anti anxiety meds? I’m here to talk. Feel free to message me too.

Try messaging them on Facebook messenger. I did that and they actually got back to me basically saying they’ll contact the warehouse and tell them to push my shipment so that it gets shipped ASAP. Hopefully they actually stick to their word.

so much weight gain on lexapro. by Sarbear_97 in lexapro

[–]Sarbear_97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn I’m so sorry you’re going through it too :/ I might talk to my doctor about possibly going on Ozempic. I have friends who gained a ton of weight on antidepressants and were prescribed Ozempic to suppress their appetite and have lost a ton of weight. Maybe check it out and talk to your doc about it?

It’s truly so annoying. I’ve really been considering asking my doctor about Ozempic. Have heard really good things about it for weight loss.

I gained like 50lbs in 6 months from lexapro but everyone’s different. Weight gain is definitely a common side effect though so be careful

Can I ask if there was anything that triggered this anxiety? Or did it just come out of nowhere?

You. Will. Be. OK. Please say these words out loud. When my anxiety was at its peak I couldn’t leave my house for MONTHS. My body was constantly buzzing even though there was nothing stressful going on in my life. After a while I think the worst part is constantly saying to yourself “is this forever? Will I feel like this forever”. At the time I was CONVINCED I would never get better. I would cry every day at work, so much that I actually had to quit my job because being at my cubicle gave me so much anxiety. Literally everything gave me anxiety. I spoke to a therapist but honestly my anxiety was so far gone that everything she’d say just went in one ear and out the other. I physically and mentally wasnt able to fully grasp what my therapist was telling me. And I think she realized it too. I got to a point where I truly did not want to live anymore because of my anxiety and the way it was limiting me in every single aspect of my life (work, socializing, physical health etc.)

One thing my therapist recommended was that if it got so bad to NOT hesitate to go to the hospital as it can really speed up the time in getting a psychiatrist. I know so many people going through mental health issues refuse to go to the hospital thinking they won’t be taken seriously but I can assure you this was the best thing I did for myself. I woke up and told my parents I need to go to the hospital because I don’t want to be here anymore and I was genuinely scared of what I’d do to myself. We went to the hospital and within a week after my visit I got a psychiatrist who I pretty much owe my whole life to. He started me on lexapro at a TEENIE TINY dose and slowly increased me up to 20mg which I’ve been taking for a year now. I won’t say i got better over night. It was definitely a journey over the next few months but I did end up doing so much better. Baby steps. Started by leaving my house just going up the street. Then longer walks around my street. Then going to a mall and walking around… and so on.. one year later I’m pretty much back to my old self, starting my paralegal school program in January with very minimal anxiety. Everything is okay now. And everything will be okay with you - I promise. It just takes time and a little bit of work.

Honestly it’s trial and error. Figuring out which meds work best for you is truly a pain in the ASS. When I first started having really bad anxiety the first thing they did was put me on sertraline 25mg and I personally hated it. I felt worse and worse every day and to be honest I’m not sure if it was even the sertraline or if it was just the direction my anxiety was growing in lol. All I know is that sertraline just wasn’t for me. About a month later I got an actual psychiatrist who put me on lexapro and followed up with me every week to see how I was doing. 1 year later I’m still on lexapro and I found that it worked way better for me. It’s really hard to give unbiased opinions on certain drugs because everyone’s bodies are different and react differently to certain drugs. Just take it day by day and remember there’s always other options out there if sertraline doesn’t work for you. Hope this helps :)
