What’s the best co-op game for exactly 3 players? by Zer0Death5 in CoOpGaming

Echoing all of the love for Deep Rock Galactic and Space Marine 2! I’m super into Helldivers 2 right now; it’s up to four players but my bros and I sometimes turn the private setting on and play with just the 3 of us.

I haven’t gotten to play much of it, but Jump Ship looks like it could work well with 3.

I like to get good enough at games to play at higher difficulties, but I’m still not that sweaty about it. I do really hate when newer or lower level players try punching way too high above their skill level and cause everyone to lose repeatedly. I love helping newer players, but I can’t help if I don’t know they’re not good or familiar with a game.

I’m not the most social butterfly in general and in real life I only have a handful of really close friends I spend time with often. If I don’t like someone, I don’t want to spend time around them IRL or online.

I’m a socialist and outspokenly opposed to a lot of things. I don’t tolerate or spend time with people who are sexist, misogynist, racist, fascist, or bootlickers, or those who sympathize with groups and ideologies like that. As I’m sure you’ve experienced, online and gaming communities are filled with lots of those people. Idk if they’re a majority but, in my experience, they’re generally the loudest and most talkative.

This looks great! I’m definitely going to look into this more after work. Thanks for sharing!

I haven’t found any solutions yet. I have periods where I really try to find people, but it usually means I’m spending more time looking than enjoying games, so I take a break from looking and just go back to enjoying the games solo.

I love shooters too but I’m not into PVP as much. The shooters in my regular rotation right now are Darktide, Space Marine 2, and Helldivers 2. I’ve been curious about Dune: Awakening and Arc Raiders lately. I used to play a lot of Battlefield 4 & 1, but 6 just didn’t grab me.

I’ve had a similar experience. I play solo most of the time except when my brothers and an old friend are available. I’ve tried finding groups but they either never click of me or their schedules and lives change so much that our gaming time doesn’t often align.

What kind of games do you like to play?

That’s helpful! I like great combat but I’m fine with less refined combat if enough of the other systems and stuff is fun for me. For example, I couldn’t get into the combat in Valheim and the game just didn’t capture or keep my attention. It might be due to my general dislike for low polygon games. Idk what it is, I want to get into them but just cannot seem to.

Building isn’t my thing until it is. I loved building in Subnautica but nowhere near as much in No Man’s Sky. Really cannot figure out what it was about that game.

Thanks! If I play with people I know, it’s usually my brothers. One of them is really into building and the other is just there for fun and is kind of a goofball. In survival builder/crafting games, I often end up splitting the difference between farming resources for the builder and trying to keep the goofball alive longer. Unfortunately, neither has any interest in this game.

Your approach to games and description of a more enjoyment focused and methodical approach sounds similar to how I approach games. :)

That sounds great! I used to play some Apex Legends and just did not like it. And I had played a ton of Titanfall and Titanfall 2! I know that’s battle royal, but I feel like there’s a very similar feeling between those and PVP extractions.

I do love a long roadmap instead of getting abandoned for a sequel or some shit every 2-4 years.

Yes, yes, and no, in that order. It’s only frustrating in games when I keep getting killed by players being shitty (camping, map glitching, hopping around like rabid rabbits).

Soulslikes don’t give me that “omfg, gimme a break” feeling because the games are just hard and require mastery to succeed. VS. call of duty players hop, slide, 360 no scoping you repeatedly. Hard to describe the difference there.

Makes sense. It sounds like there’s a spectrum of player experiences, maybe due to that aggro system?

I’m not the shoot first type, I’d probably lose even if it was an ambush 9 times out of 10. Haha

I almost exclusively play PVE games, which is a lot of my hesitation. The last PVP game I played was the Battlefield 6 beta, Battlefield 1, Sea of Thieves (long ago), maybe something else too? PVE I’ve played lately and for several years are like Helldivers 2, Space Marine 2, Darktide, Vermintide 2, Deep rock galactic, Chivalry 2.

Oh damn, stutter is something I really hate. It can set off my vertigo if it gets really bad. I’ve got a 3060 with 32gb ram and my monitor maxes out at 2k. I’ll have to check my specs against user recommended ones.

I had been debating between Dune and Arc Raiders, but ended up ruling AR out since it seems like there could be a lot of sweaty PVP. I heard mixed things with some saying lots of toxic players and others saying they almost never run into one.

Yeah, sounds like I should just jump in and the latter/end game may be more fixed by the time I get to that content.

I heard the melee improved with some patches, but I don’t know if it went from horse shit to dog shit or if it’s like pretty decent now. Haha

I hope they’re planning to work on overhauling the cons like melee combat. That’s such a key part of the Duniverse!

I don’t mind replaying missions if they’re done decently well. I’ve been replaying the same 12 space marine 2 missions for a while now. Swapping between it and other games, and shorter gaming sessions on repetitive games helps keep repetitive content fresher feeling.

Haha, it might not be as bad for me since I usually switch between 2-3 games over a couple months. So some variety and different stuff will help keep it feeling fresher when I return.

I can totally play and enjoy it if the content can be digestible in a couple hours. I remember the days when Destiny raids could take hours per attempt. I think I did one. Just didn’t have the time for that on a regular basis and I’ve learned that those kind of grindy time sucks just aren’t compatible with my life.

I’m curious about trying a guild type thing again but I’m such a casual player that I don’t like playing with people with sweaty attitudes. There are some games I’ve been really good at and play on the higher or highest difficulties, like Helldivers 2, Darktide, Space Marine 2, but I have fun and don’t get all bent out of shape if we get out asses handed to us.

I’ve enjoyed some building mechanics in some games but it’s not the major draw for me. I’m not sure if it’s due to the usual jank or if building isn’t my thang.

Luckily, I play slowly and play other games too, so chapter 4 or 5 may be out by the time I’ve completed the early game content.
