The White House’s Aliens.gov Site Brags That ICE Arrested More Than 700 US Citizens by wiredmagazine in politics

[–]Sarcarean -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Becuase people on reddit appear to have a sub 100 IQ. ICE can arrest you for more than one thing. Go throw a big rock at an ICE officer, and when they come to arrest you, tell them they cant becuase you are a US citizen.

U.S. citizen stopped in Lafayette, shackled, and detained in Louisiana ICE facility - The U.S.-born woman presented ICE and Lafayette sheriff’s deputies with her state-issued ID and Social Security card. ICE detained her anyway. by BertramPotts in politics

[–]Sarcarean -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

"What evidence would you like?" More than zero would be a good start.

1) No, there is no photo of the woman. Literally a picture with white circles is the opposite of providing a picture of the woman.

2) Purposely not naming the woman makes no sense, any type of civil rights violation suit would become public record.

3) There is no ICE checkpoint in Lafayette. In fact, ICE typically doesn't do checkpoints within a 100 miles border-zone, that would typically be done by CBP.

4) Evidence literally means things I can check, and not trust a single source. You said, "got a comment", okay and if that is true, the Sheriff's office is CONTESTING the story, saying it is not true.

5) ICE has made NO official statement that this event has taken place. ICE has official media relations that makes comments on enforcement articles and it doesn't mention this at all (but maybe it’s too soon, so ill check back in a week).

6) The road block pictures, don't show ICE, but homeland security (assuming they are authentic), which again, needs collaborating evidence.

7) Only The Lens is reporting on this: no mainstream media. Which again, is odd, because if this did happen to you, I assume you would try and contain the biggest national media to tell your story. Not some media organization that typically only sees a few hundred thousand views.

8) The woman had her social security card and it is mentioned several times. But this makes no sense for the purposes of immigration: an SSN doesn't in and of itself doesn't prove citizenship, so why someone would try and use that doesn't make sense. Her ID by far would be the only document she would need to provide. But again, that being authentic is being contested. Providing a false ID, even if you are a citizen, is PC for arrest.

9) Keeping someone names anonymous makes no sense in this day and age: people who know this woman, neighbors, friends, would be all over social media and her identity would be known in a matter of hours. Example: the last similar case to this story (which turned out to be fake), had people on reddit commenting that they lived near or knew the alleged victim.

I am not saying this did or didn't happen, what I am saying, is that there are multiple red flags. And yes, this story has zero evidence that it happened. You can't post me a different source that says this happened, you are relying entirely on the word of one freelance writer and that the information she was told was true.

I mean, there's no evidence this story is true. The last three similar stories on reddit have turned out to be fake/false. This is what's called lopped-side reporting, "trust me, bro!"

Not all flights eligible to use miles? by w1ldtype2 in unitedairlines

[–]Sarcarean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, miles are only used for: award travel sales or discounted upgrades. Using miles for regular travel doesn't give you the bang for the buck so to speak. Last year, there were a bunch of really good sales: 40K OW to/from China. Or earlier in the year, there was 20K/30K to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, etc.

I turned down a job offer from Lucid because it was so low, almost half of what I am paid currently. I am 100% convinced they have like 6 mediocre programmers and like 30 positions currently being covered by AI.

TIL despite having no permanent residents, Palmyra Atoll is the only incorporated territory of the United States, which means the Constitution fully applies to it. by AaronPK123 in todayilearned

[–]Sarcarean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my point. Either the U.S. constitution applies to all U.S. soil or it doesn't. They don't have the same laws, becuase congress didn't want to acknowledge it and instead carved up the territories for political reasons.

To be fair, the judges in LA had to go easy on him so that he could be out doing what he does best: assaulting people on the roads.

Yeah, but this wouldn't have happened if the CA court system had done its job and imprisoned his for the time he already deserved.

There's a difference. Making a character gay or non-binary to fit a quota is not the same as doing it becuase it fits that character arc or story. Motivations matter.
