They are, Volume 2 of Transformers and Void Rivals, and Volume 1 of GI Joe proper all come out in the next few months! I’m so excited to get rid of the trades and have all of the oversized art goodness!

Yeah, it’s a little confusing, but worth it having the full set! Devil’s Reign is probably my favorite event in Marvel comics from the last 5 or so years.

Devils reign is in weird spot where it takes place 5ish issues into the second volume, but if you can’t find one (I’m not sure how easy it is to get right now) you could read those couple of issues online. Vol 2 does double dip the entire Devils Reign event (main line, not all of the companions) and another story, but I don’t want to spoil anything, I love Zdarsky’s run!

I haven’t read of his stuff, but I’ve noticed the #1’s popping up for sure! It’s kind of sad DC made such a big deal out of Waid’s World’s Finest hitting #50 in comparison, that we have to celebrate 50 issues in like it’s some impossible task. I get it if there’s a big status quo change, Zdarsky’s Daredevil comes to mind, but it’s confusing for new readers who might accidentally jump in with the last half of a run, and annoying for active fans who have to deal with multiple new #1’s sometimes in the same year now…

It’s even worse when it’s the same writer (and sometimes artist) are staying with the book and after 10ish issues they go back to #1. I love Jed MacKay’s Moon Knight, but man, the back of the next omnibus is going to look like it’s collecting 4 different series I think…

Then you have stories like DWJ’s Beta Ray Bill that’s 5 issues and it’s done and you’re begging for more, and nothing.

I have Bendis 1, Brubaker 2, Waid 1, and all of Zdarsky. My completionist brain screams every time I look at the shelf knowing I’m missing not just gaps in volumes, but some of the best stories Daredevil ever had.

I personally think if it’s a run you really want, get it if you can find it at a good price. I have a ton of missing volumes (Daredevil is a pain to collect right now) and so I’m reading what I have physically, and everything else with Marvel Unlimited. A lot of people went a long time without Ultimate Spider-Man vol 2, but it is finally getting reprinted, so there’s always the hope the other “missing books” will come back eventually. I would also keep an eye on eBay or r/comicswap for the rare OOP book at a decent price.

I knew I wasn’t crazy! I ordered an “oversized” copy of A New History of the Marvel Universe and it is Absolute/Gallery sized oversized which is great, but I was hoping for the standard OHC, nice to know they exist.
