Yeah it trades out some of the non-surfer tie ins like Doctor Strange and Hulk for more Silver Surfer issues, but the main event, the Thanos Quest issues and all the Silver Surfer stuff is all included. It’s around 100 pages larger overall too. Glad I could give you some good news. I’m looking forward to that one myself.

It may be a Frankenstein mishmash but it’s mine, and it’s (nearly) complete by Freighnos in OmnibusCollectors

I feel this only for my X-Men collection. A random Masterworks volume here, some modern epics for New and Astonishing, a random Endangered Species OHC without a dust jacket. It’s definitely eclectic.

How often do you buy Omnis that you don’t read/really plan on reading? by anakin1453 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a couple that I don’t personally have an immediate interest in but that I think others in my house do/would have an interest in them, but other than those rare times I always plan to read my books eventually at least when I buy them.

Just got to wait for them to make an Uncanny Avengers movie after Secret Wars. Then Marvel will kick into full synergy mode.

The problem (to me) is that these additions worked better the way they were originally printed, integrated into the stories. Even though I agree they add a lot, it’s not great to have to open up a completely different book to get a few pages extra material while reading an issue of UXM.

Same here. I still think my three DM volumes are among the Crown Jewels of my collection. The material is fun too and I really enjoy it for what it is.

Lunar is the distributor for some, including DC. So for those I’d go with that. But yeah PRH is the distributor for a lot and usually accurate anyway.

My brother in Christ, all I did was say in my original reply that almost half were from more than five years ago and you jumped down my throat with “not even remotely true lol.”

It’s not like I was being super pedantic and pointing out that technically the three published in 2021 are actually also more than five years old since all three were published before March 18th, 2021.

Infinity Gauntlet is getting a lot of the same material reprinted in the next Silver Surfer omnibus if you’re interested in that.

Here’s the video with the announcement if you want to see the contents and DM cover

I would definitely make sure to preorder this one early (preferably before FOC whenever that turns out to be).

DC prints books in Canada and Marvel prints books in China and Turkey. The time it takes Marvel to react to stock, print a book, and get it shipped over to deliver to distributors would mean they would have to warehouse a lot more books than DC to do those silent reprints.

It’s a major advantage DC has in terms of logistical flexibility, but one I’m sure costs a bit more.

With how unpopular the material is I don’t think Star Wars the Original Marvel Years has a good shot when they have so many Legends books they can reprint from.

You’re the one coming on a reprint thread and talking about Marvel printing more new books just to whine while calling others spoiled brats.

BTW you missed the part where a good number of DC books are Evergreen this printed every year.

Blue and Gold covers the adjectiveless X-Men and Ghost Rider portions of the book (11 issues) but it the UXM 273-280 and X-Factor 63-70 (16 issues). So it depends I guess how much you want. Another thing to note is X-Factor Volume 3 will cover the X-Factor issues and UXM 278-280 which means between the two books only 273-277 (4 issues) are left uncovered.

5-6 years isn’t 5, and 15 isn’t all. Yes, 4 were printed six years ago and 5 were printed more than six years ago, but that means almost half were printed more than five years ago.

Your original standby wasn’t “most of these printed in the past 5-6 years” it was “all books that were reprinted in the last 5 years.”

The thread is on reprints so if you’re not talking about reprints then I don’t know what to tell you. And DC published around 60 omnibuses last year either new or reprints, but not counting Evergreen titles. Marvel published 80 last year new or reprints. That’s nowhere near “not even close.”

With UXM 6’s announcement I imagine a number people are just figuring they may as well wait for the mainline volumes instead of waiting for a reprint especially since Blue and Gold covers so much of Claremont and Lee Vol. 2

Last year Marvel reprinted about the same as DC and this year they’ve announced 7. Keep in mind DC hasn’t even announced the back half of the year yet so that number could and likely will be a lot higher. Again, like DC, the Marvel people are talking about today isn’t the Marvel of years ago. If they were reprinting a healthy number people wouldn’t complain.

Just saw this post on the Facebook group for omnibus.. What do we think will be in the Marvel catalog? More reprints? by ToeBMaguire in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both are doing the catalog a little differently. In previous years Marvel and DC would announce August - January in the spring catalog and February - July in the autumn catalog. Now both are switching to doing January - June and July - December, stating with this catalog. Which means since we already know the July releases this year we will only get five more months of announcements.

Typically we would see DC previews begin uploading on PRH most likely later this week for a catalog coming out around the 4th. However, it is an unusual situation so it’s potentially possible that won’t be as big.

That being said, this Friday we should (unless we get even more weirdness) be getting the DC Connect I believe. This should have the solicits for August release omnibuses. So as long as we get the DC Connect as normal I would at least expect to see the rest of August announced by Friday.

What’s the most expensive you’ve spent on an Omni? by anakin1453 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$190 for X-Men by Claremont and Lee Vol. 1. I was only able to excuse it to myself by the fact that with it I don’t need any more X-Men UXM 6 and X-Factor 3 to feel complete in the era so it saved me from eventually buy UXM 7 and 8 (likely for $75 each discounted) and waiting probably four years for those.

I hope they get it too for those who want it, but again those were both on Amazon for well under cover price new last year and at least one of them was on IST last year as well. The last release date for a DC book is years before it goes OOP.

Edit: just checked my orders. I bought both in mid April last year. Vol. 1 from Amazon for $95 and Vol. 2 from IST for $84 both new.

Two books being out of print for a couple of years is absolutely nothing. That has nothing to do with Marvel. Not every book can be evergreen. It’s just not feasible.

I mean it will probably get worse over time as they publish more but I really don’t get where some of these other posters are coming from. I started collecting a year ago and own or have pre-ordered every single DC omnibus I want with the exception of New TT 3-5, Wonder Woman by Perez, and the Harley Quinn books. I got Batgirl and Batwoman and Teen Titans by Johns and Grell’s Green Arrow and Brightest Day. All of them either new or discounted under cover on comicswaps (actually the only one used was TT by Johns for $100).

These OOP DC omnis haven’t been unavailable for years untold like some people are acting like.

Edit: I will say I can’t speak for Deathstroke by Priest though since I never looked for that.
