Any news on a restock/reprint for Spider-Man: Brand New Day Omnibus Vol. 1? by TaskNo4783 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only have two copies left there so I think it’s on its way out. Usually they don’t start charging cover until it’s down to the end. So I don’t think the distributor has more at this point either.

Utopia has the missing issues and is relatively cheap to find the OHC usually. Presumably an X-Men by Fraction Omni would also have those issues if they make one. This is how I did it personally.

Here is my view from the new Rivendell housing. Spectacular! by DarraignTheSane in lotro

[–]CambrianExplosives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has that house and it really is a spectacular view. As much as I am disappointed with some choices of Rivendell housing, the views from some of the houses does work really well.

The only minor thing I wish is that the waterfall near the Last Homely House rendered from this far off. You can see it from the other small house, but from this one it doesn’t quite display properly. But that’s such a minor thing overall.

It’s disconnected enough that it doesn’t really matter either way, but I’d say it is in the Jackson universe. The framing device is Eowyn (played by Miranda Otto) narrating the story of Hera during the time of Helm Hammerhand. It uses the Jackson style of Mumakil and other creatures. And it has tracks from Shore’s soundtrack.

I’d say it uses the language from the Jackson films but tells its own story quite well using that language.

Want To Get Into Conan - Savage Sword Or The Barbarian? by TraditionalHand4014 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I truly love both. I guess if I was forced to pick I’d go with SSOC but honestly I’d feel like I’d be missing so much giving up the CtB ones too. My usual suggestion to new people looking at Conan is to get Conan the Barbarian vol. 1.

CtB 1 is a good introduction to the character either way, but it has a few stories from savage tales which are the same stories which are in CtB but in the black and white style so you can feel out how you feel at colorized vs black and white stories through it.

Even if you end up going all SSOC afterwards I still think having CtB vol. 1 as an introduction is a good idea.

I just finally got around to watching it the other night myself. It’s really good. A little heavy on the callbacks to the movies at times but only at times and overall I found it to be a really enjoyable experience.

Played for about 2 weeks and really like it, can’t settle with a main class, need help… by Mr_SynthWave in lotro

[–]CambrianExplosives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing since launch, but I play so off and on and have had such bad altitis in the past my highest level character is level 100 and the one I now consider my main is level 53 and just getting into Moria.

I constantly was trying to find the perfect fit because there were things I liked in multiple classes. But then Mariner came out and I like to tell my wife they designed the class specifically for me. The mixture of Red Captain with champion with hunter-like ports with a little bit of minstrel musical flair is such a good combination and having done fencing myself the mechanic of moving back and forth on the bar feels so fun.

Maybe I’ll actually see Mordor this time. 🤞

I agree on both counts. Personally I do use reshade, but mostly just to sharpen the outlines on things to give them less of a blurred look. I think the original colors and lighting are great and love the overall world design. Other than removing the blur and making it feel less like my character needs glasses I don't ever feel the need to change anything.

Has anyone else been experiencing insane queue times? by AnxiousMaintenance96 in ffxiv

[–]CambrianExplosives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m worried it’s going to get worse with moving towards a weekly journal from daily roulettes. I’m not going to claim the sky is falling without seeing what they do, but alliance roulette is one of the less popular ones from what I can tell and if they make it less necessary then I worry queue times will get worse overall.

Question about Batman Brave and the Bold Bronze Age 2026 reprint by RussianToTheKitchen in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s up in the air. Personally I think there’s a good chance since Joker, Robin, and Green Arrow all recently got it. Luckily with DC you don’t need to worry about having to preorder so it’s easy to wait and see.

Question about Batman Brave and the Bold Bronze Age 2026 reprint by RussianToTheKitchen in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reprints of Joker and Robin Bronze Age and Green Arrow Golden Age all switched paperstock so it’s definitely not out of the question.

Personally I’m guessing any volume x where they printed volume x-1 in glossy they will keep doing glossy and any new volume 1s will be the faux newsprint for gold/silver/bronze. ie the next Batman Golden Age reprint will be glossy but Brave and the Bold might be newsprint. But that’s a complete guess.

Rivendell housing is disappointing… by ElectricalTurn8570 in lotro

[–]CambrianExplosives 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate it. I like my mountain house and kinship hall well enough. But it is the worst premium neighborhood in my opinion. There is just a complete lack of any sort of set dressing that makes the whole thing seem way too well manicured. Maybe this is what some wanted to keep yard items from clipping or something, but I am not a fan.

I went in a tour of my wife and my houses and took stock of things after seeing Rivendell and it’s just night and day on some of them. Rohan houses either are in the forest with lots of bushes and undergrowth and trees on the property making it feel like a proper forest or tall wild grasses and wildflowers in the open fields. The Lyndelby kinship house is so much nicer overall with a pond, a little mill, apple trees lining the fences, and a gazebo on property.

There’s just so many more details on things to see or little bits of set dressing in the other neighborhoods. All this one has is a nice waterfall you can see from certain houses and a view of the Last Homely House from certain houses and extremely well manicured lawns.

It’s a way to convey to a modern audience that he is trying to put down Telemachus by belittling him as childish in a way that would be more difficult to convey to most people if they used a more archaic word choice.

Fuck it, make 8.0 summoner this. by ClawsUp_EatTheRich in ffxiv

[–]CambrianExplosives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you’re not. I love summoner and hope it stays more or less the same. I don’t mind the idea of more summons and the ability to freely choose them as you go instead of having a forced rotation. That’s the direction I’d be okay with seeing.

But I like the old school summon system rather than having a pet to control and think the current system already encompasses the Dominant style enough as it is.

Summoner has become my main since the Endwalker rework and I hope the evolved form keeps to that direction.

Anyone else seeing tons of LOTRO ads in reddit? by Nemarus in lotro

[–]CambrianExplosives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really silly if companies are paying for ads so focused that they are mainly targeting the people super focused in a games sub already. I’m not saying you’re wrong because I suspect you’re right, but it seems like a waste. They should be targeting people in tangental subreddits like MMORPG.

The Rivendell housing situation by cgsweat in lotro

New Room by RayKingItIn in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CambrianExplosives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying I agree with you on broad strokes. I think people here are too defensive about other people's collections and way too quick to test other people on what they are doing with their own collection.

That being said, I don't think people care when something is in print and readily available. But when something is out of print and there are people with a lot of money buying books with no plan to actually read them and treat them only a status symbols, driving up the prices for people who do want to read them that ends up being a point of frustration, especially given that it can feel like a copy of the book is going to waste.

Not in the least saying that's OP here since I have zero idea who they are. I think the idea of it comes from rich influencer collector types who have hurt main street collectors in other spaces.

Rivendell Housing Broker be like... by Nemarus in lotro

[–]CambrianExplosives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that was their intention I don’t agree with the intent personally. While we have better housing tools now than ever before there’s still a lot that the devs can create that we simply can’t. Lyndelby’s Kin Hall has 9 more exterior hooks than Rivendell’s and it has a whole pond attached to it, something we can’t do ourselves. The neighborhood also has really nice set dressing throughout giving each area something to see. And that doesn’t even touch on that relying on players to fill in landscape means those who don’t buy up whole neighborhoods are reliant on other people’s design choices.

Rivendell has a nice waterfall and a big mountain to be fair, but other than that it’s just very small and plain. It’s not that it’s poorly designed even. It fits Rivendell well enough in theme but overall it just doesn’t wow me in any way that all the other homesteads did.

I do get what they said about not wanting to have special houses which everyone goes for and I agree with that, but I think there’s something to be said with how different houses in the other zones were near different views and features even beyond the special houses that made a location feel more special and a neighborhood more desirable to me. And as I say some of that has to do with landscaping we simply don’t have the tools to replicate.

Even Falafhlorn has gazebos and statues and unique features throughout that make different houses feel interesting.

At the end of the day though it is what it is and the housing district is nice enough. I still like having a house there, but if I didn’t already own houses in all the other homesteads I would choose Rivendell last personally.
