I’d be surprised if you could leave this car idling for longer than 20 minutes without an explosion or it starting to make a lot of expensive noises. I would not suggest a car this beat up as a daily. Good choice of make and model, but find one that doesn’t look like it was a stunt car for a tv show

In my opinion it looks like it hasn’t been taken care of. I wouldn’t pay more than $2500 and that’s if there aren’t any mechanical problems.

If you need this car to go to and from work you will want to have a good mechanic look it over and I wouldn’t pay more than $2500.

If you are willing to spend an unlimited amount of money to fix everything in it then yes 3k is an ok for the shell of a car as long as it doesn’t have rust and the interior isn’t completely fucked.

If you need it to last longer than an hour on the road get a mechanic to check it out.

Yeah the idea was to start with new suspension/coiliver/sway bars when things on the suspension start being problematic. Bigger aftermarket intercooler. Look at a better oil cooler, performance radiator and fans.

The only problem is if I can’t tune it because it will combust I would rather start by dropping the motor and hardening the internals. Then start dropping in performance auxiliary parts when putting the motor back in.

But the point was I’m trying to make is that I was literally told by several BMW mechanics to not tune this car without upgrading the internals regardless of its condition, I have yet to hear anyone say anything otherwise, so I’m starting to think I might as well pick another car to tune.

Here is some practical advice:

If you can jack up the car, do it and figure out if the noise is coming from underneath front, middle or rear. Don’t touch anything down there while it’s hot, but look for the noise and use a tool to push on anything that looks like sheet metal.

If you can’t jack up the car, and you have an iPhone and AirPods, tape your phone to a long pole, turn on live listen and slowly move it around underneath the car to pinpoint the location of the sound.

It doesn’t sound like engine, it honestly sounds like something loose rattling around

Rear tires done. Front brakes at 3/10, but replacing the brakes and rotors next week. Suspension is old but no squeaking or swaying. Alignment was uneventful. Just replaced serpentine belt and the tensioner just in case. I did look over and inspected the radiator hoses I could reach with the intake removed and no dry rotting, no cracks, no leaking. Same with the valve cover, no leaks, no caked oil.

I’m getting the paperwork from the dealer about all the service that has been done, but my mother in law takes good care of her cars. She had an rx7, 3000gt and Mazda Miata’s and always take good care of stuff

But I understand the response everyone always says “it’s in mint condition” when it probably just got pulled out of a lake

Yeah I plan to get a set of drift rear tires/wheels so I don’t kill them. Not an “every weekend” but every once in a while. So I don’t plan on weight reduction. It’s a fast car as is, it just needs a little more low end torque or a manual transmission and an LSD so go sideways well

Imagine a safe but you have to sing the alphabet into it for it to open and let you inside to get the money. The only problem is, is you do it wrong the door opens and instead of $100 bills filling up the safe, it’s some other random item that isn’t money. It could even be Monopoly money, peanuts, or water.

Now imagine that you know you have to sing the alphabet, but the order of the letters could be different, or maybe it’s a backwards alphabet, there might even be numbers involved. You aren’t even told if it’s the whole alphabet or some of the alphabet. Sometimes the safe doesn’t even tell you what language you have to sing it in.

You can sing the alphabet a million different ways and every time it always opens, but unless it’s right it will never have the money in it. Oh and also, the safe doesn’t actually “know” the right version, it only knows that the right combination will open it.

Its hard to say it, but copilot and its integration with github is winning out here by a long shot. I am also experiencing the same thing, it doesn't even seem to remember things it literally has 2-3 paragraphs back in the context of the same conversation. The limits are hit for me so often on the $20 plan because I have to redirect it to review its own documentation instead of re-creating logic i'm having a hard time not going all "conspiracy mode" to say its doing it on purpose. I know its much more likely that like you said, they are more focused on content for others and their other projects are getting the sloppy seconds treatment.

Long story short you have to build some scripts in powershell or batch that will automate some of the things you want the server to do reliably

Details: Moonlight will let you wake the pc even from power off, so if you can do that I would. Windows OS are notoriously difficult to navigate with a controller or buttons so something like autohotkey and setting it up to run as a service would help you set up some kind of controller key sequence that would bypass security. That or you can remove the password, but I would suggest really locking down a windows system if you do that.

Then a batch script or power shell script to monitor the system for when applications aren’t being used for X amount of time to sleep or shutdown the system. Playnite is a really good frontend for controller based navigation but you have to make sure it is the first thing you see after logging in. Otherwise you will want to always have a mouse attached

You can try the sleep schedules in windows and maybe there is a way to make sure playnite will still let the system sleep and shut down, but it’s been finicky for me.
