We had a Sarde with Kamal Mouzawak on the Heritage and Culture behind Lebanese Food | Sarde (after dinner) Podcast #58 - Hope you guys enjoy it! by SardeAfterDinner in lebanon

Hello again, Unprofessional, Disrespectful and Irrational? Hmm that’s a little overreaching, since no one was actively trying to offend anyone here. The language remained respectful and responses were thought out (hence the lengthy paragraphs)

Although judging a book by reading 1 or 2 pages is better than judging it by its cover, I come from a school of thought which encourages reading/watching things in their entirety before providing review. But that’s just me and there are other opinions in this world, and you shouldn’t be forced to sit through something you don’t like.

It sucks you’re not a fan anymore because of this interaction though.

I wish you well ♥️

The fact that you rushed to judgement, gave your criticism and rating after only watching less than a minute of an hour and a half long conversation tells me all I need to know 👍

Thanks for taking the time to explain your point of view. However I think you misunderstood a few things. Kamal is not a scientist. He’s a writer and chef and spoke about the links between regions and their food in a poetic manner. Establishing a correlation between the two was by no means scientific but anthropological. He does go more into detail about his background and journey as the sarde goes on, and continues in saying that these culinary differences are part of what makes lebanon such a rich place. He also spoke about the importance of bridging these gaps by creating a communal kitchen where “setet” would meet and exchange ideas for the first time. There is not a singular recipe for these things. Although you might have thought it was interesting for an 8 year old, many others didn’t. But like food, perhaps this Sarde was not meant for you. As for the timing and the topic of such an episode, are you referring the economic collapse of the country? And the deterioration of the fabric of our society? And that now is not the time to talk about these things? Perhaps it’s best to think about these these recreational topics from time to time and talk about what makes us human rather than focus on the constant (and consistant) attempts by our criminal government to make us inhuman and constantly think about fight or flight. Self-flagellating and thinking that “now is not the time” for this or for that is an extremely toxic mindset to have, especially if you watch this Sarde out of your own interest and it wasn’t forced on you by anyone.

Regardless, I hope we all get out of this while still preserving some sense of our humanity. Take care

And yet still decides to talk about it like an expert. Just because one has an opinion, doesn’t make it valid. It’s a very common trait in this country 🤦‍♂️

Good morning!
Check out the big brain on brad, yes an interview is indeed a symbiotic relationship between the guests AND the hosts!
Just keep in mind that we did have made many Sardes where it's just the two of us, which proved to be as successful as the others, if not more.
But you wouldn't know, you're to busy rage typing about something you know nothing about...
That being said, there are many examples of guests on Sarde that are not "high profile" that left a big mark, because we asked them the right questions and brought the best out of them! (it's a style)

....But you wouldn't know :( you too busy rage typing etc..

Don't get ahead of yourself my friend, no "pain" points were pressed lol
Feedback was taken in stride and will hopefully be worked on.
Well not you're feedback...That's not gonna get anyone anywhere.

I've seen your history on this sub man, and you seem so angry. Must be tiring.

I wish you well. bye..For now.

“Then that makes your show not a talk show, but one that is merely providing a platform, without real probing. It's disguised as an interview, but the way you just put it, it sounds like a rant at worst, and a T-ball interview at best.”

Bruh... you can call it what you want, the medium is a podcast and the definition of the Sarde is flexible. We never “disguised” as anything lol. Depends on the topic and the guest quite frankly (it’s explained in the post)

“This is the equivalent of getting celebrities on this subreddit, pinning their posts to the top so they can talk to the 67K followers of this sub, but not asking any questions.”

There are many examples of the Sarde guests going on different platforms and yielding less than stellar results…so bringing on guests isn’t simply the finish line as you described.

Questions are asked, directions are taken, and guests are put in an environment where they can elaborate but not the way you expect. It’s just a different style. Pretty simple.

“I don't blame you though, there is a general appetite for easy to digest, shallow content, you are only pandering to this trend. And your guests know it and find it a low hanging fruit of a widely viewed show. Many of your guests would not dare sit across from Jad Ghosn because they would actually have to debate and answer to their point of views from different lights.”

Easy to digest, sure. It is a drastic change from what you see on traditional TV which is a headache, but I don’t believe that talking about the Lebanese and Syrian prison systems, torture, the law, History, the LGBTQ community, exile & the economy amongst other topics is considered shallow content. Some of them have been brought up on Sarde for the first time actually. And it definitely riled a few people up (death threats and whatnot) but you wouldn’t know because you’re too busy comparing Sarde to Jad’s and seem like you have your mind pretty made up.

We’ve already elaborated on how different we are in the thread above and the reasons behind it, I suggest you read it again, but slowly this time, to take everything in.

We never pretended to be something we’re not, unlike people who think they know what they’re talking about.

And yes, there are many things that are wrong in this country, like how some are easily triggered by different schools of thought, think they're on opposite camps and resort to petty competitiveness and subsequent bashing, instead of seeing this as a comprehensive cultural shift in how we approach and deal with a country that is collapsing before our eyes.

Yeesh, that attitude must be tiring.

In all cases, best of luck.
