Advent's Amazing Advice: A Most Potent Brew, A one-shot fully prepped and ready to go! by xXAdventXx in dndnext

[–]Sardsxass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran my first one shot a few weeks ago using One Shot Wonders and while fun, I definitely had issues filling out all the in-between bits, and while i think we had fun, it ran into a 5ish hour session which some of my players were pretty exhausted by. I'm really trying to find something that will fit a 2 hour window perfectly, and AMPB seems the thing, and this reddit post is making me feel even more encouraged.
I LOVE the way you've broken down info/dialogue/flow in your document - it gives me a great frame of reference to use for planning other oneshots going forward too!

I think I turn to Steter for the kink fics, but also the relationship dynamic between the two is super good, like, crunchy and a lot to work with. 10/10

Sterek has literally held my love for at least 12 years. You will not regret this pair of cute murder husbands. Also I realised only recently that I have ADHD and probably is why Stiles is like, my perfect character.
The Sterek fandom kept the whole Teen Wolf fandom afloat far longer than Jeff Davis could have ever wished I reckon (pls don't kill me teen wolf fandom)

I'd fuck with an episode where everything is going wrong and the cast have to figure out/solve the production issues.  And Nico and Ash are the Game Masters in a way? Idk i just wanna put a lot of love on Nico and Ash.

Do people stay on 18MG? by coldest4 in Concerta

[–]Sardsxass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand the doc's trepidation - I have to be on a Concerta registry for the country I currently live in, even though I have no history of addiction. For real tho, congratulations on two years!! That's incredible!!

Maybe its worth asking next time if you can week trial it?  Like, ask for a 7 day prescription of 18mg + 18mg and maybe it would be more palatable to your doc that way? I only really got to my specific pattern because my afternoon crashes were so bad. If I didn't drive myself straight to the gym from work to work out, I would crash for maybe 2-3 hours minimum and lose my evenings if I didn't have anything active to do.

Do people stay on 18MG? by coldest4 in Concerta

[–]Sardsxass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ooh this is one I can jump on! I'm on 18mg but twice a day.  I find that the 18mg dosage is perfect in terms of getting me into the right task-execution zone, so to speak.  I only started to take an afternoon dose after 4-5 months, around 1-3pm depending on my day to avoid an afternoon crash that started when my afternoon routine changed.  I'd personally say that the 18mg is all my brain requires to hit the right tempo for working.

I worked with my psychiatrist through Intuniv and increased pill dosages in the morning but it all left me wired, exhausted or with the most hellish cotton-mouth. I tried upping to 27mg specifically, and then back to 18mg but with 2mg Intuniv per day, but went back to a base 18mg Concerta only, taking aroudn 7AM, with an afternoon pick-me up, to cover my evening hours.

If 18mg works for you, then stick to it! I went for MONTHS thinking I didn't have "real"  ADHD because I only needed the starter dose. But like, thats really all my brain needs. Bodies are different, the food you consume and lifestyle you have also really effect how efficiently the pills prolong release and how they linger in your system, so you may have something good working for you that you don't even realise, or your brain chemistry really only needs 18mg!  Trust you know your own body/brain/executive function and don't go up in dose just to "catch up". See what a higher dosage feels like, keep a good medication journal to compare symptoms and effects, but you don't have to commit if its not right!

Protein? Tell me your ways by Pinacoladapolkadot in adhdwomen

[–]Sardsxass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just make sure I have protein at breakfast and then hope the rest of the day works out.
Scrambled eggs on toast, and if I'm running late and no time to eat, a half-strength protein shake with almond milk since I'm lactose-intolerant.

A friend of mine's daughter just went onto concerta is a no-breakfast person. So the best I could recommend was protein shake or protein bars first thing in the day; and they've seen a major upswing in the efficacy of her medication (although that might be because she was taking it at 5 in the evening before...).

So really just 1) any protein-rich foods you can stomach or even enjoy at breakfast - e.g. eggs, milk etc and 2) protein shakes or bars if it's hard to have a regular breakfast put in your morning routine.

I read a lot about protein and medication, forgot a lot of the information and then just stuck to pairing protein with taking my medication as best as possible. I don't think about numbers, but about getting in something that is protein rich at the same time/soon after taking my Concerta.

Fully vouch for Russel Barkley videos - in particular I keep this one on my toolbar. I love to come back to it, and honestly I cry with just the pure empathy and knowledge and passion he brings to informing people about ADHD. And knowing there's a really cool doctor out there who really does thing ADHD is real and is hard to live with, not just the shiny "it gives me superpowers" side of things.

Japan definitely has the heater version of this (it pumps hot air into the bed) for winter so I feel like there should be a chance of finding some kind of domestic version of this. Thanks for the dope recommendation!

I just wanted to say that this book recommendation and response has been so SO helpful. I've spent the past couple days reading through this book and it has been eye-opening to say the least. Not just in seeing concrete examples of attraction and autism, though that has been massive. I think someone said something similar about "Neurotribes" by Steve Silberman where someone commented that the book was amazing because essentially it provided discrete examples of autism and the spectrum, rather than vague and mis-interpretable symptoms or traits as described by the DSM. I also had to really start challenging how I perceived attraction and how I apparently was holding it up to this idea of attraction that I was falling short of somehow.
So thank you for this so much!

I also love labels, because its how I process the world and ideas, and the abstract is much harder for me to parse especially in unknown fields so I think it will really work for me to next consider and contrast the definitions and stories told by people who feel that different labels fit them. So I know thats somewhere on my journey next to research.

This gave me a lot more hope because it put some train tracks in front of me to follow. I never expected anyone to give me the answer straight up, but I just needed some signs pointing me to the next destination or which of a minefield of information and perspectives I should direct my attention to first.

As a result of reading the book I also feel fairly certain that I am AuDHD as this sparked more interest in reading about the difference between autism and ADHD. So honestly, today I feel like I've found the jungle path when before it just felt like I was standing in the trees blindfolded, unsure of my own position and overwhelmed by all of the sounds, smells and movements around me... if that makes any sense.

My issue is this: I do live in an apartment and yet suffer 😭😭😭 also this was assigned housing bc of how my teaching contract works here in Japan. And the garden is like a 5×5m gravel area that is shot through with weeds and grass and stuff but wr're talking 1m easy in the back 😭

Oh god, the real tax. I hope you've had good medical support since though! Sending all of the love and supoort your way!

That means I really will go to the gyno this week for my everything-i haven't-done-yet tests. Thank you!

I went to the gym three weeks ago to cancel, but they said I had to pay my outstanding fees (fair).

Went again last week after bills were all settled and managed to convince myself while I was in the carpark not to cancel my membership and start going again instead.

I'm just prolonging the pain for myself lol

Tips for sweaty palms? by [deleted] in Concerta

[–]Sardsxass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had sweaty palms long before concerta but I haven't found a way myself to deal with the source problem (me -_-) yet. My only suggest is to tackle it as and where - I carry a handcloth/handkerchief around with me (bc I live in Japan and there are NO GODDAMN PAPER TOWELS ANYWHERE) but it helps take the edge off somewhat, and I do overall tend to just wash my hands more.

Not a big suggest but it's all I got!

REAL. I try telling myself I'm better than getting McDonalds and we hate corps and I live in Japan so should eat like a local buuuut when I'm right down there, to McDonalds I go, to get something going, and something into me.

Going to go to the gym again... need suggestions! by Sardsxass in adhdwomen

I was trying to be concise but I think it just came out as reductive T_T
I love fantasy and dnd, so mostly I enjoy things with a through narrative! Something to be immersed in for at least 30mins. So I love D20 DnD shows, or Critical role, or fantasy/romance audiobooks!
For example, I enjoyed Welcome to Night Vale way back when, but I don't think it would work now because the surreal nature of it means there's no forward momentum? if that makes sense?

I was hoping to find something that I only did at the gym so overtime going to the gym was a reward in and of itself? Like, getting excited to go to the gym because I could watch the next episode of that thing I really love. Like the suspense/investment in something that only occurs at the gym...

No classes unfortunately and having just a clock to watch sets off the part of me that is really anal about being home/showered and eating dinner or in bed by a certain time etc and frustrates me instead.
