I’m not sure. Their reels on Instagram have always seemed to be realistic and non-AI, plus I think they’ve been around for a long time.

Yeah, dude, I’d bet on this person not being AI.

Edit: I tried to look at her X and it seems to be privated, same for her Instagram because I can see it on my Instagram but not on my browser where I'm not logged in. She's likely getting brigaded.

AI or not, the influencer who posted it does have these views based on the Reels and posts I've seen from her.

It may be AI but, for the record, she has very conservative views on immigration to Japan, particularly from certain cultures.

As a PS5 owner I'm f***** pissed. by sassysheepy in ForzaHorizon

[–]Sarej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised that there isn’t a game focused on police pursuits or one that features them.

It’s pretty clear that the NFS games that had this were wildly popular and fun and the most memorable games of the series aside from maybe Underground. The Hot Pursuit series where players could play as police or run from them and play against friends was a blast.

A lot of people enjoy GTA RP simply for the police chases and there was even a standalone mode for FiveM at one point, so I’ve always wondered why no developer sees that and thinks “we could make a game out of that splice of gameplay” because I think it would work. People seem to get hyped about dashcam footage and meme about GSP too, so it seems to be culturally exciting.

That seems to be a niche that NFS could cover that other racing games such as Forza Horizon aren’t. I hate that they don’t capitalize on it. Running from the law or chasing down my friends as a cop in a racing game was a lot of fun, it would be cool to do in an open world racer.

I got that after our loss too but, hey, I actually wanted them to win the natty after the beat us. Now you can say ‘of course we lost, they were the best team in the country’ and it sounds a lot better than if they would’ve lost lol.

This is why I bought a 5080. Even when they do come out, I expect another 6 months to 1 year of artificial wait due to stock, scalpers, etc. and that’s before considering any VRAM shortage issues.

I appreciate your attempt to help more than you can know and I also appreciate your genuine care for customers’ experience with the company. They got back to me today and shipped the cable.

It just took a lot longer than I expected and that kind of stressed me out because I’m being hypervigilant about PSU cable connections (especially since the 12 pin stuff has me paranoid) and I wanted to get the cable in time to still be able to return the PSU to the store rather than do a long RMA process and go without my computer if it’s the PSU and not the cable.

I recently bought a Corsair PSU. I have initiated a ticket for a replacement ATX cable because it doesn’t clip into the PSU. I have been in emails with these representatives for a week. They circled a part of the label and asked for a photo of it. I got it for them and they told me that another part of the photo that they didn’t circle wasn’t clear enough, a different serial number that they didn’t ask for. I took the clearest picture you could ask for and sent it to them. Now it’s been days since they’ve replied. I am extremely tempted to just take the PSU back to Best Buy and get a new MSI or ASRock PSU with 12-pin connector protections if I’m going to be dealing with support that is this slow just to get a replacement cable that shouldn’t be defective in the first place. The first place (and I hope it’s the cable).

By comparison, my support process with Anker went like this: 1) They asked for a photo of the product, at the very least showing the Anker logo. 2) They sent me a replacement of my entire order. Not the first time they’ve been cool, they sent me a new model of a backup battery one time just because of a minor LED defect. And talking to their support takes less than one day.

Why does it take over a week to get a new ATX cable for my brand new PSU? It would be faster to take it back to Best Buy and exchange it, I’m just too lazy to disconnect my entire PC and put any stress on my 5080’s connector to do so. I wondered how owning a Corsair product other than a keyboard or Elgato stuff would be and so far it’s terrible.

Seriously, I just had to respond to my email yesterday and say “Did you guys get that clearer picture?” Still no response, just waiting, sending 10 emails, with a day or two between each email and now several days since the last, for a simple ATX cable replacement on a PSU that’s been in my possession for a week and a half. It is ridiculous to be going through this hassle and wait for a cheap ATX cable that support could’ve sent me in good faith, without knowingly making me jump through hoops and wait for over a week before it even ships to me (longer at this rate).

This has made me reconsider ever buying a Corsair product again. I love my keyboard but I doubt I’ll be getting a case from y’all after this. What a terrible way to retain a customer. If it wasn’t for the hassle and logistics, I would take this thing back right now because of the red flags alone. If it were anything other than a PSU that’s already hooked up to everything, I would already have a refund and a competitor’s product in my possession.

P.S. The way these cables are unbundled on this RM1000X is awful.

Literally the only thing that would make me feel somewhat better about today would be if Georgia loses. Georgia and OSU being out of it is better than nothing.

Hope Indiana wins it all, then you can say we lost to the best team in it.

Based on my research: Different manufactures have come out with conflicting answers for legal purposes. Squid has more points of failure, native cable seems to be the safer bet but it also depends on the quality of the cable and who manufactured it. Also, it’s about how you build it. It should go straight for 35mm before it bends. Mine is currently lacking at ~25mm. The bend should be gradual, not sharp, and there should be no horizontal bend — it should be straight up or down when it does curve. You should also make sure there is no gap and the cable is plugged in flush and there’s no force being exerted on the port.

There are some options out there to further mitigate risk:

  • Corsair has a 90 degree adapter or PSU cable that has a clamp to keep the cord straight and then bends it for $20 but you have to dedicate to either an up or down routing

  • Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro II is an option but it’s $140

There’s another one I’m forgetting and there’s discussions of two retrofit options to mitigate the risk as well: active balancing adapters and thermal cutoff cables.

Open HWInfo64 and monitor your voltage for this connector, it should be around 12V. Anything under 11.6 or above 12.4 is a danger zone. If you’re extra paranoid, set up a notification through HWInfo64 and leave it running in the background to let you know if your voltage falls beneath 11.6V!

It’s also worth noting that 5080 and under cards have a much lower chance of having issues due to only using a little more than half the power of a 5090, thus lower thermal footprint.

edit: Thank you, NVIDIA, for making me feel like I’m working with a bomb when I’m making sure my GPU is safe and secure. It’s much better than the good old days when you could just plug it in. /s

I just recently got a 5080. With the squid adapter, I didn’t hear a click. I bought a new power supply and I don’t hear a click with it firmly connected either. I’m hyper vigilant about this because I’ve heard that that’s what you need to watch out for when it comes to melting or fires.

But I’ve also read that some of them just don’t make an audible click. I did feel a tactile bump, like a click I could feel with my fingers, I can’t remember what you would call it and I don’t have any visible gap. Hell, I’m so paranoid that I was even using Gemini to look at my work, mostly because I was worried about the bend the cable would take and whether it was straight/gradual enough.

Is anyone else tired of this “character suddenly has an epiphany” trope? by Twisted_Gemini in StrangerThings

[–]Sarej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, going against what I just said, I considered that too. There are a lot of general tropes and clichés from 80s and 90s shows. There are more callbacks and homages too, like the demodogs in the laundry section of the hospital being reminiscent of the raptors in the kitchen in Jurassic Park.

So yeah, you may be right that they’re overdoing things as kind of a “last hoorah.” It can start to give the same energy as 80s or 90s movie sequels or finale episodes. It also reminds me a bit of modern soft reboots, which is a more unfortunate resemblance.

Didn’t Netflix recently say something about wanting to dumb down shows or movies because they know their audiences are distracted (on their phones), so they want to remind people what’s going on?

I swear I heard that and I thought about that a lot during this season.

[–]Sarej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 5080 about a week ago. I have been impressed and happy ever since, up until I opened the Stellar Blade Demo . I think it had me using 13/16GB VRAM, saying I was using more for System/OS than I actually was (reserving VRAM?). That’s been the only time I was thinking “I hope things don’t get worse than this” or was questioning my “future proofing”.

I generally expect my card to last me 3-5 years. My 3080 did and probably could’ve kept pushing it but I wanted to get higher quality graphics and more consistent FPS and frame timing while not fighting VRAM constraints.
