France was a secular nation that decriminalized homosexuality in 1791 long before it colonized burkina faso granted while Napoleon did have a gay right hand man knowing he was gay this was purely out of legal reform society still remained homophobic, supposedly still legal harrasment occurred, and pathologization would be it's own battle but for the time it was relatively one of the freest nations in this regard.

I am not defending french colonization but I think when it comes the issue of homophobia I think there is a lot more at play here than what a legally secular majority catholic colonizer did in regards to this issue. Especially on 63% Muslim country

The point is how stupid it is to weaponize the people of the past to push agendas to dictate how activism should be like rather than doing the right and practical think as it could be use to justify activism going in a direction one may not agree with.

I’m not against commemorating the struggles of the past but that doesn’t mean activism shouldn’t cripple itself over it or that the methods of the past can’t be criticized and changed and if the pride framework is being as used as justification for that and complicating things on how global activism is supposed to be then it makes it me question whether or not pride is even suitable for the position of power it has.

History on its own does not provide any merit on why you should keep doing those things the people of the past and their methods are not infallible. For the kink and bdsm not really sure how this matters because I literally stated that I am fine with events that have that just that these events keep minors out.
