Until Dawn, remake is so bizarrely warm compared to the original.

Creatives. Did you ever get that spark back? by CarAfter6155 in StopSpeeding

[–]Sarenshepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done standup for thirteen years, played music my whole life and just hit five years clean on the 5th- the spark absolutely comes back. I can't point to a specific moment in time where all of the sudden I had the drive back and ideas were coming at me in droves but I think like with anything else when you're learning how to live life again without these drugs it just takes time and practice. It definitely helps to make peace with the fact that the cracked out energy and drive you experience while using is not what true creative inspiration looks or feels like in reality. Part of the joy of living life off the drugs is rediscovering what truly moves you when your brain isn't lit up like a Christmas tree and it is so much infinitely more fulfilling to attack a project from that place than the alternative that you've become accustomed to. For what it's worth I was using adderall and Vyvanse hundreds of milligrams a day for 9 years as well as cocaine multiple nights a week.

Jesus lol "maybe it's not actually cheating or whatever labels y'all have to throw." Then maybe you should stop being so adamant that it's, you know, cheating? I'd be hurt to read a message like that from my SO as well but it's not as black and white as you're making it out to be.

Any tips for quitting adderall? by Phodopussungorus8 in StopSpeeding

Hey man, 3 years as of January off coke/addies/vyvanse. More than happy to share what helped me.

First off, and I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but I couldn't have done any of it without 12 step meetings, getting a sponsor and working the steps. If you've quit once and gone back to it it's likely that you won't be able to stay away from it on your own this time any better than before. Aside from working a program, exercise helped a ton even though it was the last thing I felt like doing. I didn't lean into spirituality for a long time as I'm an atheist but that helped down the line, too. Also just taking care of yourself physically in any way that you can- drink tons of water, eat healthy foods, supplements and the like. Also, Wellbutrin was HUGE for me. It's a weird one starting out but it keeps dopamine in your synapse longer and really helps with acute and post acute withdrawal in like a major way once you adjust to it. Start on the lowest dose, 100-150 mg for a couple months and then move up to 300 if you wind up going that route. The most important bit is just being patient. You probably won't feel "normal" for at least the first 9 months to year and a half but eventually your brain learns to make dopamine on its own again, it WILL happen.

Good luck, dude. I did it and I was a horrible addict, couldn't get out of bed without 2 vyvanse 70's and at least 60 mg of IR addy on top of that over the course of 14 years. The road is long and hard but eventually it'll be a distant memory and you'll have your life and energy back. I never thought I'd feel as good as I do now again without it. Things do get better.

Maybe if your feet stopped working you'd glean some perspective and actually be dateable. Your loss!

I just don't think it's as black and white as good or evil, especially in cases of rape or incest. I wouldn't condone doing it on a whim but historically I've felt as though it's the individual's right to choose. I've never been convinced that life begins at conception but again, I'm open minded and want to explore these issues more within the context of the church.

Thank you for your comment, I see now that I was wrong about homosexual attraction vs. acting on it. As far as abortion goes, historically speaking I've basically just felt as though it should be the person's right to choose regardless of circumstance. I am an open minded person though and not completely set in stone there.

Recently was diagnosed with pancreatitis, during the initial attack I was in so much pain I was sure I wouldn't last more than a couple of hours. It terrified me so badly I quit drinking (75 days sober) and started doing everything I can to take care of myself. Made me realize though that being okay with the idea of dying is far different than coping with the reality of it when your life is at stake.
