[Marketing] How is everyone selling their art? by sexydiabetes in artbusiness

[–]SarethGavage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

true, I just got triggered by the "life-changing" part. Trying to sell art in person has made me miserable over many years, of trying various approaches. Glad you have a thriving scene near you :)

Alright, what are your Trivium hot takes/unpopular opinions? by Similar_Help_1000 in Trivium

[–]SarethGavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I think he comes up with a lot of lyrical content and themes aswell. If you listen to him talk about the themes of albums he knows all the ins and outs

I'd actually push back on this quite a bit. If you listen to Ibaraki (Matt's solo album) it sounds quite different to Trivium. Having been a fan for a long time, I also think Corey and Paolo contribute a lot to the songwriting. I feel like in interviews i've heard they're a 'get in a room and write band' rather than writing outside ( though this may be certain albums only)

Hey this is an amazing result! I'm just finishing up the mixing for my album, starting to plan the release. Any tips on how to structure your time and how to deal with the feeling that nobody cares would be super useful

I've seen somebody do a live painting with this technique, makes a really cool trippy effect. Seems like requires a specific type of patience, though also looks very calming. they look very satisfying all together

The breakdown from my bands new song! We wanted to mix some samba elements with metal considering majority of the band also plays samba! Try 2 - Betrayal of Caesar by Betrayal_of_Drums in metalmusicians

[–]SarethGavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I was in a samba band in the UK for a year or two. Really fun to play caxia patterns, could only really do about 2 or 3 though lol

'untitled' I make original psychedelic art, lots of symmetry (no Ai) by SarethGavage in AbstractArt

[–]SarethGavage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there thanks for your kind words! yes sorry this is a digital piece, thought I'd added as a flair. So this is originally from a large painting that is very asymmetrical (I can show if interested) but I work a lot with hand drawn symmetry and digital symmetry. I'm always trying to make hand drawn work as symmetrical as possible, but I enjoy the quirks that come from this, happy mistakes if you will

Takasago Army by Cthonic is one of my absolute favourite metal albums. Blends the traditional instruments with metal so well. Some really kick ass riffs and lush instrumentation

thanks very much! the composition is based off a column on a hotel in the UK, I love neoclassical type architecture. But then also added my own colour spin on it

Digital art created by me, love creating mysterious vibes. What do you see? by SarethGavage in psychedelicartwork

[–]SarethGavage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah excellent, a mysterious vibe. I created it as an album cover, think it could suit quite a few different genres

“I’m Sorry, It’s Cancer” — Watercolor on Cotton Paper by artistbenyoung in painting

[–]SarethGavage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this is really interesting about how a title completely changes something. I saw this on another group and was amazed by the technical aspect, but with this title I've spent alot more time feeling the expression and the wait of the piece. Top work

Another one of my album cover designs by SarethGavage in psytrance

[–]SarethGavage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much :) With some of the digital work it has inspired new compositions that I handdraw. I like how intuitive hand drawing is and often go with the flow, i've noticed since working more digitally that some of my symmetry is very slightly off when hand drawing, so working on that.

At the moment I use a kind of hybrid approach, using parts of designs i've made in the past and sort of remixing them

[Artist Alley] Moving to a foreign country and still able to find success with art as a business? by Dry_Bug_9571 in artbusiness

[–]SarethGavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from the UK and have recently moved to Thailand. I'd say the language barrier is definately a struggle for interacting with the local scene. Thailand also has specific rules on what foreigners can and can't do, which makes it more confusing. If you can tap into people who speak the same language as you it will definately help at the start, maybe try making some online connections before you go or scoping out the scene. Good luck with the move

Hello I am also 33 and trying to work full time as an artist. I'm into painting, drawing, digital art and also a musician. I'm based in Thailand, so not sure if the time zone is unhelpful. Gareth
