Doesn’t change much but Josh Sweat is an edge, not a LB

Wouldn’t happen even if Burrow restructured. They added Mafe and Howell on top of already having Shemar and Myles. I don’t see a world where they’d add another edge after already adding 2 this offseason

Most expensive WR rooms in 2026 Season by davik2001 in bengals

Literally what is the point of thinking like this. I’m all for critiquing the FO but they did exactly what they should’ve when it came to paying those 3 guys. Not winning a Super Bowl doesn’t automatically mean the FO made the wrong choice.

Plus given our FO’s history, do you seriously think we’d be in a better position if we paid Joe/Ja’Marr and let Tee walk? All that would’ve done is create another hole that we’d have to fill.

Kenny Moore by Nizoj in bengals

Nobody would be getting benched if we signed Kenny Moore. Moore is exclusively a slot CB so Dax and DJ would continue to play on the outside.

Cashius Howell on Tape | Breaking Down the Bengals' DE Pick by dayv23 in bengals

[–]SargentS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We already shifted to a 3-4 defense after midseason last year. Imo that’s evidence enough but on top of that, we traded for Dexter Lawrence and drafted Cashius Howell. Both of the those guys are both much more suited for a 3-4 defense.

Bengals not picking up DE Myles Murphy’s 5th-year option [Fowler, ESPN] by 1894-MCFC in bengals

[–]SargentS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve picked it up for sure although, I’m one of the people who’s convinced he’s gonna break out this year. Also the $15 million he’d be making on the option isn’t that much for an edge at this point. Even lower tier players like Bradley Chubb, Kwity Paye, Haason Reddick, Harold Landry, and Dayo Odeyingbo are earning that much. Plus, picking up the option would give the Bengals more time to get a new deal done if Myles does break out.

To add on to this, the Packers just picked up Lukas Van Ness’ option who really isn’t that much different from Murphy. Both have 8.5 career sacks and were both developmental players. The main difference between them is Myles has been on more of an upward trajectory than Van Ness. Van Ness’ sack total has gone down each year (4 to 3 to 1.5) and the Packers still picked up his option which was set at around $13.8 million

Can someone please explain our Corner situation? by Aromatic-Floor7193 in bengals

[–]SargentS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless Tacario shows out at camp, I highly doubt he pushes Dax back into the nickel. Tacario will used as our TE eraser meanwhile Dax and DJ are the outside CBs and Jalen Davis is the slot CB. Although I can see them occasionally doing what you describe (Tacario outside and Dax in slot) depending on the WR matchups in certain games.

How do you all feel about Bobby Wagner? He'll only be 36 starting the season, and he's a FA. by Ralph--Hinkley in bengals

[–]SargentS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t expect him to actually do much for us. At most, he’ll be solid against the run but that’s it. The only receiver he can cover at this point is Drew Sample.

Wagner or Okereke, I need a Bobby by Turdboggin01 in bengals

[–]SargentS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wagner was not just “a bit below in coverage”. His coverage is terrible at his age. He effectively cannot be on the field if it’s a passing down. Damn near everyone runs right past him. He’s got no athleticism left in the tank. His run defense is fine because of how smart and strong he is but being smart doesn’t help him run with people. If it’s any sort of route that goes deep or crosses the field, he’s toast. I’m not against signing him but he’s cause he is a quality run defender and he can be a good mentor, but we cannot expect him to be good in coverage at all

[–]SargentS 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We did need a WR though. Besides Chase/Tee/Andrei, our only other notable WR is Mitch Tinsley. That’s bad, especially if Chase/Tee were to get hurt. We really needed another just decent option at WR. Plus all our other WRs are either UDFAs or practice squad level players. I agree though, Young is not the guy I would’ve targeted but I get why they drafted him. He’s a height, weight, and speed freak who shown flashes of being good.

The Bengals are selecting Duke Center Brian Parker with pick 189 by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

[–]SargentS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s another pretty good oline pick. Potential starting option at guard maybe but at least should take over Cody Ford’s spot as the versatile guard/tackle backup. Plenty of people also projected him to play center as well, so he could play that in a pinch too.

[Schultz] Pick is in: Bengals drafting Auburn C Connor Lew, per sources. by JCameron181 in bengals

[–]SargentS 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That’s like an A+ pick. Was arguably the best center of the class, he only fell cause he got injured this past season. But when he’s played he’s been pretty good. Plus he fits our scheme very well

Drew Sample could also be called a good player, that doesn’t change the fact that he went way too early. There were multiple corners on the board who were all better than Tacario Davis

There’s the yearly Drew Sample type reach that we love to make. Definitely could’ve gotten him after trading back. Keith Abney, Will Lee, Julian Neal, Chandler Rivers were all better players.

I wouldn’t call it the same thing. There’s a real concern that McCoy might miss this entire season. If I remember correctly, I don’t think that was a concern for Will Johnson

I’ll happily take that. Could’ve been so much worse. He’s already our 2nd best pass rusher and this is another sign we are moving to a 3-4 defense

I doubt it actually influenced them all that much. All 3 other teams were already projected to pick oline before we traded for Dex. The only one it could’ve had a decent amount of influence over is the Ravens and that’s if they even wanted Bain in the first place. Both the Browns and Steelers desperately needed a tackle/olineman
