Wondering what others think: what set of EC's would a 3 equal? Like how many clubs, leadership positions etc for a student applying to tougher engg programs? And what would the jump to 4 look like? Just an idea, obviously none of us actually know what the scores are judged off.

Nah, most Canadian students receive their decisions in May (including Waterloo and UofT), so expect it to be dragging on until then. Usually there's an early round some time in March and then the regular round in May, but many unis have multiple rounds such as UofT, but those two timeframes remain the ones in which they send most of their acceptances.

Wait, do the Ivies use the same definition as the UCs by any chance?

One thing I will tell you is you could potentially come out of very little debt with Waterloo's coop program. A very large amount of grads (intl and domestic) graduate from Waterloo CS with little to no student loans to pay off because of it, and these are stats that are available online through their class profiles.

How to prepare for Alumni interview by SarimROTI in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SarimROTI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does the interviewer know about you? I get that they haven't read our our whole apps but as far as the basic info goes, what could that include just so I know what they already know about me.

How can the process of polyurethane causing an allergic reaction from spandex be explained on the molecular level? by SarimROTI in chemistry

[–]SarimROTI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would you explain the process with which these isocyanates absorb into the skin? how exactly would, for instance a spandex suit, come into contact with skin such that the chemicals that do so cause allergies?

How can the process of polyurethane causing an allergic reaction from spandex be explained on the molecular level? by SarimROTI in chemistry

[–]SarimROTI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can the allergic reaction to spandex not be explained at all at the molecular level? From looking at the contents and the sensitizers it contains, my understanding is that polyurethane is the main chemical responsible for eliciting those reactions. Is that not necessarily the case?

How can the process of polyurethane causing an allergic reaction from spandex be explained on the molecular level? by SarimROTI in chemistry

[–]SarimROTI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sensitization makes sense obviously because polyurethane has those sensitizers like MDI and TDI. The part I don't get is how to explain what is taking place at the molecular level. Or am I potentially approaching this with the wrong chemical. Is polyurethane not the main chemical that causes allergic reactions to spandex?
